I had been doing the Insanity program. I was about 6 weeks in when I pulled a muscle deep in my chest and I was out for about 5 weeks. The first week I took off completely from exercise. Week 2 I started just with walking. Then added some light training and was about back to my normal self when bam - I got sick. So another 3 weeks of light cardio (when I could) and weights (again when I felt ok) I finally started back at it this week. I decided to do an "easier" Insanity work out today and forget it - I could barely keep up.
Wow! What fun you can have with a great cardio workout, strength training and stretching in the water! Keeping yourself afloat while power cycling or jogging is a great way to warm up. Move into the challenge of some power kicks and then make it fun with some danse moves. Music is a must and a smile goes a long way! Keep your focus while you resist using noodles in the water for upper body and then stretch. If you are part of the Hammock Beach Resort come see me on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:10 am.
A couple of weeks ago I discovered this website http://www.ericcressey.com/articles and found a couple of interesting articles. Among them are these 7 simple analogies that I found helpfull in explaining movements and concepts to my clients.Check it out
Taking responsibility for all of your actions, reactions and non-actions, while becoming conscious of, and consciously utilizing your power to choose will enable and empower you to create and experience a more harmonious and authentic life. Though we have all been born into different families and circumstances, we still all have the power to choose our paths. The power of that choice is an incredible gift.
Does Willpower really exist? How come sometimes we have it and sometimes we don't? I recently read a good book on the topic of willpower and found it to be inspiring. One strategy I learned, that you can use to improve your own willpower is to impose small hardships on yourself. It could be something like brushing your teeth with your non-dominate hand or waking up 5 minutes earlier than you need to. It should be out of the ordinary but achievable. These self imposed acts seem to help build willpower.

Genesis 2:7 - "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."I LOVE THIS VERSE! I have a saying written up on my white board at home that says:God spoke the world into exsistence; He reserved His breath for mankind. Isn't that cool!
