Time Magazine boasts about the Science of Optimism - In fact, it made the June 6th cover. So many of us need the willPower and motivation to keep thinking on the "up." We are all guilty of choosing to think the worst, so that if the best happens...it might be a bonus. The truth is, sometimes it's just easier that way. But why not, even if for just ONE day, try not to take the easy road?
To burn more body fat, burn more total calories! Make a healthy lifestyle change to incorporate exercise into your daily life and eat sensibly. Log your food intake and do some self-analysis. Do you need to reduce your portion sizes? Make healthier food choices? Do you eat 3 balanced meals per day along with a couple of snacks? Drop some unhealthy habits and replace them with habits that are more in line with your weight loss goals. Take a walk instead of sitting in front of the tube eating. Make the behavior changes that support the new healthier, leaner you!
I wanted to comment a little the new fitness tool called the Vibram Five Finger "shoe." I have been testing it and have even worn it in a 5k obstacle course. It proves to be a very useful product.
Last year I started my Zumba experience with Zumba Gold. Helping clients have fun in their workouts has always been my passion. The basic rhythms and dance moves in Zumba Gold allowed me to reconnect with my teaching style while overseas. In my classes I used music from different parts of the world and taught them mostly with visual cuing.

We all have those days. We wake up and feel as though we've been hit by a truck. Is it the flu? Maybe a terrible cold? Nope. We overdid just a bit! No worries. Here are a few things you can do about the pain :)1. Drink water. If you're lifting heavy or training for endurance then you really need to be aiming for 1 gallon a day. Yes, that's why the body builders all carry that jug around! Don't worry about having to run to the bathroom more, your muscles and joints will be using that water. If you're not that intense in your training, get 2-3 liters per day.

SO many people have asked me about this subject so I have decided to respond here. Yes! What you are eating most definitely plays a huge role in your weight loss and weight management efforts. Over the years I have worked in employee wellness programs as a fitness instructor alongside weight control/nutrition programs. I believe that adopting a healthy eating program is great, however I do not believe that you can measure your progress by the scale.
