SHRINK YOUR SIZE WITH INTERVAL TRAINING

By Esta Morenikeji
I really don’t like it when guys try to outrun me in a race just because I’m a woman. I am a very competitive person, but I don’t run or lift weight to compete with another human being. My training goal is to beat my last performance.

From My Point of View

RISK VS. REWARD

By Todd Werginz
I believe that there comes certain times in your life where you are forced to make a choice. I also believe in fate. I believe that you meet certain people in your life for a reason. You actually might not even be aware of what those people can or will do for you at the time you meet them. Other times you just know that this "person" will have a profound effect on choices that you make going forward in your life.

Spring!

By Aura Garver
Things are turning green and poking up through the ground. Yay, Spring! If we can keep our heads in this incredible wind all will be well! As things start to come back to life this time of year, we feel that same energy starting to swirl in our bodies. In yoga, I am teaching lots of balancing poses to help us keep our center. Tree pose (Vrksasana) is a good one for reminding us that the trees that survive hurricanes are the ones that flex and bend, but do not snap.

Off the Shoulder

By Karin Singleton
Shoulders are a subject, which is close to my heart. I had surgery on both of them for something called impingement syndrome, and, on top of that, I had a frozen shoulder. This has made me an expert on my own shoulders. I have learned the hard way what to do and not do and want to share my lessons with you. Most shoulder injuries are, I believe, avoidable if proper weight training or general lifting techniques are observed. But that is a mute point once your shoulders start hurting.

The Lady in the Picture: Before meets After

By Esta Morenikeji
Not too long ago I appeared on a live television show to discuss excessive weight gain in women. Having learned that I was once overweight, the producer asked if she could show my 'before picture' during the show. Of course I agreed.

ARE YOU IN THE ZONE????

By Adrienne Vose
First ask yourself, "what is intensity?" Intensity is the degree of strength, energy, or difficulty. Next ask yourself "are my workouts as intense as they should be?"The Center for Disease Control recommends 150 minutes of moderate aerobic intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic intensity.

better late than never!

By Denise Ricker
I have been walking or running 3-4 miles each day in Florida.  thinking about trying to swim 1/2 mile this summer after knee surgery (the lake we go to in the summer is 1/2 mile wide).  A major goal that maybe I can do, we'll see, need to think of alternatives to running or impact activities....
