Recently at work my boss mentioned to me that they need more TRX certified trainers, it took me about two seconds to think about it before I said I would do it. Sunday April 7th I will become certified and I am so excited about this for many reasons.
The first is I will then be able to use the TRX system when working one on one with Personal Training clients.
The second is I love to teach and help people and this is going to not only allow me the opportunity to do group classes but also give me contact with more people who can potentially turn into PT clients.
The third thing is I have been dying to get my hands on a TRX system, but so far have not been able to get in for a class myself.
Below is my story of creating a home suspension system.
I have been reading about TRX since it first (or thereabouts) appeared, but I didn't have the funds to buy a home system. So being the creative person I am I went to the hardware store to purchase items to create my own suspension system for use in the basement. My first purchase of hardware didn't work out the way I wanted so I returned the "stuff" and spoke to a man working the floor. I tried to explain I wanted to hang something from the basement floor joists, he asked what I was going to hang because the hardware would be dependant on the weight of the object. Without thinking I answered, "I am going to hang myself!" His face dropped and he looked at me with a horrified expression. Relizing what I just said, I immediately tried to correct my statement with a very discriptive example of exercises so he wouldn't think I was suicidal. He quickly found what I needed and moved away from me in a rather speedy fashion. My contraption works well but is not ideal.
