2012 Coming to a Close - Reflecting

By Angela Rogers

As this year comes to a close I can't help look back at what has transpired over the last year as most of us do and as we think about this past year there is possibly a few emotions that may arise in reflection.  Maybe a sense of success, failure, triumph, regret, motivation and on and on it goes.  Regardless of what that year entailed whether good bad or indifferent its now past.  Its something to build on for the new year.

As some of you know I personally moved not once but twice over a period of 12 months!  We aren't talking a neighborhood move or next state move we are talking East coast to West coast and then back to East coast again!  And as I look back at so much transition in my life I don't really have any regretful emotions at all even though those moves affected us quite a bit financially as well as emotionally, physically and spiritually.  We were practically out of debt except for our auto loans before we left and now we are way in the red and still have the auto loans!  LOL!  Had no one!  all our family and friends were here.  Still I have no regrets!  You say what?  Why not?

Why no regrets because if you just keep wondering about something and never do it then it haunts you, especially if the opportunity knocks on  your door more than once.....so you take it as a sign and move ahead with it.....only to find out maybe it wasn't a sign or maybe it was...only you know.  But the point is......if its on your mind day after day, month after month and YEAR after YEAR.....then maybe it needs to be addressed.  You will not know the other side unless you go there.

Many of us desire to be the best we can be but how do we do that with so much baggage hanging off us whether it be work, health, diet, weight, family issues, financial or spiritual?  First of all know that you will never arrive to perfection but you can get to satisfaction!  :)  Satisfaction in knowing that you balanced work and leisure for more enjoyment, that you dropped weight and built muscle to be able to stand taller in that new size feeling healthier; that in your discipline & budgeting you gain back a sense of control all by 1) making a decision 2) setting up a plan with goals 3) working that plan making those goals by L I T T LE  B A B Y steps!

Thats right baby steps....that is all too real to me this year as I have crossed over into Grammy town now with the birth of my daughters twins.  They are currently 2 months and its amazing what transpires in 2 months!  Bigger, more alert, make new noises, see better, can track you, bigger poopey diapers and louder cries!  LOL!  Anyway...all this to say.......you CAN do whatever you put your mind to.  A new year is coming....but don't stop there or end of January or February.....keep re-evaluating at the end of each month for the changes in the next month.  Accept good and bad and learn from it and use it to make the next step forward.

Did I have a fantastic year?  In fact I did even with all the changes, financial pressures, losses & gains....you know why?  Because I acted on it, even though I was afraid, tired, unknown, embarrassed, determined but most of all willing to take the chance to try it, do it, make it happen and press on using what I experience to make a better baby step.

Remember alot of baby steps put together can take you to a goal, desire, triumph or dream.  Will you take some baby steps with me in 2013?  Lets make a difference together wherever that baby step is you want to be.

Many blessings in 2013, thanks for being in my life

God Bless You!
