Warm Greetings from Tucson! I've been here 6 months and I must tell you it was a harder transistion than I thought it was going to be for sure. Looking back on the last 6 months.....Months 1 & 2 was intriguing learning the land, people and adjusting to the weather and altitude. Months 3 & 4 were very hard for we had no one, we left all of our family, friends networks and connections we have known for years to zero! That is a challenge in itself for sure emotionally mentally and physically even though I attempted to reach out to to get to know my neighbors join Meet up groups for connections and resources......only did things start to connect for us in months 5 & 6 where things started to feel like we were connected here.
My activity was still a dull roar with a couple more 5k's and a St. Patty's Kiss me 17k run, tons of hiking but felt I was in a rutt I was never coming out of....so I signed myself up for Browns Boot Camp and finally went with shoulder injury to boot in March. All I can say is WOW!!! My first day was a fit test so we have something to measure by at the end of the month. Boot camp was for 4 weeks. 2 min pushups, 2 min sit ups and timed mile run! That first day was a major realty check for me for sure. Just getting into the boot camp was humiliating enough to say hey....here is a trainer gone wild that needs help......yeah....I ate the embarrassment pill and signed the dotted line.
Day 2 of bootcamp I begin to cry inside for so many reasons, guilt, embarrassment, disgrace, yet also for the hutzpa to do it, how good it felt, the fact I was doing it regardless....so many thoughts and emotions (I will spare you the long desortation).
Now after 2 months of boot camp (yes I signed up for another month!) I feel like the Angela I was 10 years ago before everything changed and was once alive again! The girl from the Worcester Fitness Club was alive again! The one that kicked everyones fanny including her own! The one people would run from LOL!! I now am doing my own 12 week boot camp at home and getting back in the swing with teaching at a local club again in June and working on opening a Nutrition Shake shop! I'm on fire and still have more body fat than I should but I'm heading in the right direction with determination and full force to get it down and maintained and continue to help others!
The most important thing I want to share with you after all this is......just start! Just do it! Stop procrastinating with excuses......count the calories, find out what you're eating and what your burning and flip it around. You.....YOU can make anything happen that you put your mind and ACTIONS to.... write me let me know what you did! :)
