Yesterday although the brain was wired and enjoyed sitting at my desk and getting lots of work done my body really did not want to do any exercise. I had biked 30 on Saturday and run 5 on Sunday...both days I walked Parker 2 miles. It has been really hot and humid and I am sure that can affect my desire. Anyway....after walking Parker in the morning yesterday I decided to go to our community pool and do my 30 laps at a very leisurely pace...this means basic breast stroke without pushing intensity. It felt good...after the first ten laps and it was a good choice for me.Today I had made up my mind to run with Ron and Parker (dog) for 3 miles and then come right into my fitness loft and do my strength training. At 6 am it was already 78 degrees...so the run was slow...but Parker loves it when both Ron and I are running and so he was good. I came back and immediately put on some rock music and began my strength workout. That felt great and I added planks and the yoga sun salutation and lots of stretches. I know I needed the stretches and my body was much more willing to participate today. It is not all mind set.... some days the body just says no!Mind is pretty good today with more desk work...working on revising a sermon I am giving at church the end of September. It is on spiritual gifts and mission fields.....all things I discovered on the Anchor House Ride in 2005. It can easily be revised and I am looking forward to working on it.
Four years ago we moved to this lovely area in VA. I gave up my full time personal training business for lots of reasons not the least of which I would no longer have a home studio or ready supply of clients with whom I have worked with and known for over 25 years in the fitness business. It seemed like too much to begin again and besides which....I just wasn't sure I wanted to be tied down to weekly availability to clients. So I semi -retired. I say semi because I still had several phone coaching clients and that works really well in this phone connected world. Fitness and life coaching by phone works and I still love that aspect.I have kept all my certifications up simply because I still get excited and interested in the world of fitness as it grows and develops. I have gone to several conferences of which IDEA ones are always my favorites. So summer is over and I have a desire to begin a "class" or small group personal training using balls and bands....or setting up the occasional workshop for walkers, runners, cyclists and teaching what I know to be true...fitness is more fun when shared with another.So....what will it be?I
