Working out. Those are either dreaded words or they are the words you live by. What is it about working out that drives people? I strive to be a workout junkie and to motivate others to start working out. This can be challenging because I think in some ways society has created working out to be equal to losing weight. So when you become unmotivated or slack off on eating healthy then the active part of your life falls away also.
I am here to say that working out, whether you eat terrible, have a desk job or do not care to look like a fitness competitor, has so many benefits. Your body is actually designed to pump more blood and oxygen through it when you are active. Your body thrives on movement of any kind.
All you work out junkies, what advice can we give to those who are trying to understand the crave of working out? What motivates you?
For me personally I used to trail run all the time, nothing compared to the crisp, clean air, the unevenness of the ground and best of all the view. Now that I have moved to an area that does not have trails, sidewalks or clean air I have had many struggles to regain that motivation. Working out used to be part of my regimen but now I realize I enjoyed the outdoors as much as the training. Without the outdoors the training became challenging. Through my struggles of regaining that passion I realized I work out best when I have a goal. Events! I love to pick an event; warrior dash, 5k, 10k, half marathon, it doesn’t matter. Picking out an event that excites me helps me refuel the passion I have for pushing myself and to feel the benefits of training whether I am in a gym, at my house or outside!
