According to reports from Taiwan media, the upstream supplier said that Acer's Tablet PC shipments in this year are expected to reach 10 million units, an increase of 400% over last year; the main reason why Acer Tablet PC shipments surged is that the market demand for entry-level Tablet PC will be very strong.

Currently, Acer can sell 20 million units to 30 million units of Iconia B1-A71 monthly, which is a 7-inch entry-level cheap 9.7 Inch FreeLander PD80 Tablet PC priced at $ 150. Acer plans to launch a 8 inch and a 10 inch entry-level Tablet PC in the near future.

Among the expected shipments of 10 million units this year, the shipments of Acer Android Tablet PC are expected to come to 700 million units, while the shipments of Windows-based Tablet PC will be 300 million units. After Acer released the 8-inch and 10-inch entry level tablet PCs, the industry expects that the price of 7-inch tablet will be down to $ 130, while the price of the new 8-inch and 10-inch products will be set at $ 150 and 200 dollars.

The OEM of Acer Iconia B1-A71 Tablet PC is Compal Electronics. Acer has outsourced the order for its Nextway F10X Quad Core A31 Tablet PC to Wistron Group, and this 8 inch tablet is expected to be put into massive production in early April. Insiders added that Compal and Wistron Group are actively competing for the order of 10-inch tablet.
