We all have something that we are afraid of and it is different for each of us. But one thing we all have in common is that we are afraid to fail. That if we can't do something that we try we are failures. That can't be further from the truth. Failures are just learning experiences, learning how to do something differently so that we can grow and get better at whatever it is we are attempting, whether it is to lose weight, be faster, stronger, or more flexible. Think of all the atheletes that will be participating in the upcoming winter olympics, do you think that the first time they put on a pair of skiis or skates they were able to fly through the air, go down a mountain , or spin across the ice without falling down. If they never tried because they were afraid of failure they would not be in the olympics. They would not be wearing gold, silver, or bronze medals around their necks. The only way they learn not to fall is to fall, figure out what made them fall and then change it.
Failure isn't falling down, it isn't not being able to make it through a workout or do the perfect burpee, it isn't coming in 2nd, 10th or even last place in a race. True failure is not picking yourself back up to try again or never even trying in the first place. So don't be aftraid to fall, come in something besides 1st, slip up and gain 1 pound or struggle to lose 10. It is in those times that you learn what not to do, how to fix it so next time you will be better, so you won't gain 5 pounds over the holidays, so you will get better and stronger at burpees, and so you will finish your race faster.
If you are going to be afraid of something, be afraid of never trying in the first place. Be afraid of what you are missing out on because you won't try.
There will always be opportunities to fail, but what's most important is what you do after that failure. If you give your very best at everything you try, pick yourself up when you fall, dust yourself off, fix what went wrong and then do it again, one day you will succeed.
Don't let failure stop you, let it teach you!!!
