Most of my clients are older adults and its a challenge to get them to want to move.
Here are some of the things I do to encourage older women to be more active.
- If they don't have a mobility issue I encourage them to set "play dates" with their grand kids. I suggest the client to regularly (once or twice a month) take their grandkid to go to the park or the zoo or museum, anywhere where it requires them to be walking and moving for extended periods of time.
- I tell them to have a "watch and walk session." This is where the client watches their favorite television show and the goal is to walk (or march if unable to walk) in place for the entire show time.
