February is our Heart Month and it will be hard to find the better month to start skipping a rope.
"Oh, Hideka, I don't even remember the last time I jumped..the 4th grade?" is mostly I hear but this activity has so much benefits I still want you to grab the rope, put your ego aside and start jumping! (Oh, Ladies, make sure to wear your sports bras since you're not a 4th grader anymore :-)
What benefits? Well, besides the obvious ones such as 1) a big calorie burner 2) builds stamina 3) inexpensive 4) you can do it anywhere, have you heard this word: Self-limiting Exercise? Let's say, you got no-so-perfect form when you run. But, you still CAN run, well, with that form and what would happen down the road because of it? Yup, you'd get unwelcome "issues". Now, can you jump rope with a bad form? No, you cannot! See, unless your posture is nice and tall, your landing is nice and soft and your breathing is nice and relaxed, the evil rope will keep catching you and won't let you jump. So you will never develop a bad posture or habits from skipping ropes.
With all these benefits, it's hard NOT to jump rope, you agree?
If you have access to Morgan Stanley Fitness Center, Jump Rope for Your Heart Challenge is heating up all through this month. Also check on these helpful videos below.
A Happy Jumping, everyone!
