Brandenburg / Meade County Taekwondo Update

By Jamie Brantley

We have been holding Taekwondo classes in the Meade Countly High School wrestling room for a month now, and what an awesome turnout!  Fifteeen students regisered with the MAC and have been attending regularly since February 11.  Four of these students attend the intermediate class and assist with instructing the beginners.

I really treasure this opportunity the community has given me to help teach your children about health, fitness, self-defense, combative sport, and how we can all learn to live the tenants of Taekwndo: COURTESY, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE, SELF-CONTROL and INDOMITABLE SPIRIT!

Jamie Brantley

I believe resiliency and wellness are developed through behavioral choices, including the many choices associated with fitness, nutrition, sleep, stress management, recreation, personal development, family relationships, social interaction, faith and service. It is important to educate individuals about ways to make positive behavioral changes, as well as provide active programs to help them enact these changes. I have been a professional educator for over 20 years, beginning in elementary education and then teaching personal development skills, such as communication and stress management, to adults. I am a World Taekwondo Federation registered black belt and USATaekwondo certified coach and referee. I have been instructing martial arts since 2007. In 2009, I began to expand my educational experiences into yoga, fitness, and natural health. Most recently I have developed and implemented programs for soldiers and veterans suffering from stress related conditions and/or chronic pain in the use of yoga, meditation and biofeedback as complementary/adjunct treatments.
