A Little is Better Than Nothing

All year long we look forward to the month of December. Celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Remembering old traditions and creating new ones. Reconnecting with people you may not have seen for awhile. It also means more things being added to our to do lists. Shopping, wrapping, mailing, parties, cooking, etc. To create room for these new to dos, something often has to be removed. For many of us, that something is our workout. But it doesn't have to be! Exercise doesn't have to mean a trip to the gym or an hour long session. If your tight on time, rethink your workout and about how you move through the day. After all, exercise not only helps us beat the battle of the bulge, but it also helps us feel better, keeps our immune systems stronger and wards off stress, all important things to have going on during the holidays when things...lets face it...get hectic! So find a quick interval workout you can do at home. You'll get in a heart pumping workout in half the time! Or walk those holiday cards to the post office instead of driving them! Just stick them in a backpack and away you go. You'll get in a workout and cross an item off your to do list! You can go for a walk with friends or family to catch up rather than dishing over a dinner out. You can dance away your frustrations! Or just find a quiet place for some stretching, yoga or meditations. Just 5 minutes of deep breathing can make a world of difference. The holidays are often full of music, smells and sounds that bombard our senses. Taking a few minutes to be still and quiet an really help to calm your nerves and re-energize you for the tasks ahead. Remember, when things get hectic over the holidays, even just a short workout or a little movement, is better than nothing!
