Elders Fitness is sponsoring another 5k Benefit Run for Fallen Marines, the families they left behind, and combat wounded Marines from OIF and OEF. I will be posting BIAFs mission statement later this week. This organization is doing spectacular things for the families of its Fallen Brothers. Really touched my heart.
Again, the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has authorized the use of the Parks Williams Athletic Complex at 2011 Ashton Ave Monroe, NC 28110 for the event. Monroe is a stellar city and I am proud to say that I am a resident.
I will be posting the pre-registration form here and on my website later this week. Pre-entry is $20, senior citizen entry is $15, and race-day registration is $25.
The date and time is Saturday 07 SEP 2013. Race-day entry starts at 0700HRS and the run will begin between 0800-0830HRS.
As with the last event, runners, walkers, and spectators/contributors are welcome. It is open to all ages, also. Let all your friends know. We are shooting for 500 or better participants. Help us meet our goal to support this organization and its mission.
More to follow later this week.
All right people! The time draws nigh! 5K Benefit Run for Wounded Warriors is SAT. I have come up with the prize for 1st place male and 1st place female. I will do a complete nutritional work-up and and diet plan and give 3 free training sessions to each individual. This is a $250 package per person. Well worth it for me because of where the proceeds from the run are going. Please, clear a couple hours from your schedule and come out to support our Wounded Warriors. They deserve everything we can do for them and more. Registration is morning of the 13th at Parks Williams. Show up between 0700-0730 to register. Run/runs begin at 0800. See ya there.
There are so many fitness wannabes out there today that it is hard to keep the bad information separated from the good information. I read an article today which encouraged people to stop doing cardio. That was the most ludicrous thing that I have seen in a while. And that is not only because I am an avid runner and a fan of cardio. Cardiovascular endurance is a vital point to being fit overall. For example, if you are the most muscled up person on your soccer team, but can't run and move the entire soccer match, what good are you to the team? There was another article which stated that that BMI is worthless information. Where do these people come up with this stuff?
The truth of the matter is that you should have a well-rounded physical training regimen, which incorporates both strength training and cardio. Body Mass Index is a useful tool in determining your lean muscle mass to body fat ratio. Do not fall victim to all of these so called "fitness gurus" who pass on bad information. If you have questions, talk to a Personal Trainer who is certified and can give you information on physical fitness, training, and nutrition. They will not steer you wrong.
Just because I have read an article on brain surgery, I am by no means qualified to perform it. The same can be said of all the wannabe fitness know-it-alls. Be careful who you believe and what practices you follow. Your health and physical fitness is not something to take lightly.
I hope this makes sense to everyone who reads it and is a bit of help. Until next time, stay fit and stay active.
OK. I have arranged everything for my 5k Benefit Run for Wounded Warriors. At least I thought so. I realized yesterday that I had forgotten runner numbers. I am reaching out to anyone who supports this cause to see if anyone would be willing to donate the numbers. I am expecting between 300 and 500 participants and would need numbers to accommodate that many. If anyone is interested or has any ideas, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.
OK, everyone. The 13th of JUL is right around the corner. I am still looking for more people to participate in my Wounded Warrior run. Even if you don't run, you can walk, ride a bike, or just show up to support the cause. If you can't be there but would like to make a donation in support of our Wounded Warriors, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for details. I look forward to seeing all of you there. Stay fit and stay active. Have a great day.

Alright, people! Where are all of my runners? I need a bigger turn out for my 5k than what it looks like now. I know that you can set aside a few hours for a good......GREAT cause. Sign up at firstname.lastname@example.org. Could really benefit the Wounded Warrior Program at Bragg. Plus, 3.1 miles is of great benefit to yourself as well. Hell, if you can't run...... WALK! I don't care. Just show up. You will be giving up $10 McDonald's money, that you don't need anyway. Our troops in need of support need that support more than you need a Happy Meal! Put your big boy or big girl shoes on and do something important. I promise, you will feel good about your choice at the end of the day.
I still need people for the 5k to be held on 13 JUL 2013 in Monroe,NC. Entry fee is $10/ runner and proceeds will be donated to a representative from the WTU at Ft Bragg. Please, take a bit of time from your busy schedule to give back to those who have made it possible for you to live by your own schedule. This is something that can benefit the program that helps our Wounded Warriors on the road to recovery. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
