We completed the 6-week Mind/Body Fusion and Boot Camp Blitz classes! This
accomplishment took commitment and hard work on my students' part to ensure they
made fitness a priority at least once a week. I’ve really enjoyed these classes, and look forward to teaching again.
Haven’t got the official word yet, but it sounds like Boot Camp will continue next Tues. Unless a few more
people sign up for Mind/Body Fusion, we aren’t going to make our minimum to extend the class
another six weeks“ That means we won't meet again until after the holidays! If you haven’t signed up and want to, call (810)
591-0177. Mind/Body: We warmed up with roll downs and arm stretches. Supine series (on our
backs) included: 100s, single leg stretch, double leg stretch, single
straight leg stretch, double straight leg stretch, criss cross, leg
circles, bridge, rolling like a ball, seal and a roll up. Our prone
series included the back hyperextension, cobra and cat/cow. Seated
poses included cow face, saw and seated forward fold. For our standing
series, we did warrior I, II, side/angle and triangle. I introduced the
sun salutation (mountain pose to forward fold to lunge/warrior I to
plank down to cobra up to downward dog back to lunge/warrior and ending
in mountain pose).
Boot Camp: After our warm up with the Square of Despair we
toned/strengthened our muscles in Circuit 1 (biceps, front lunge,
triceps, squats, push ups, side lunge) then got our hearts pumping
during the cardio circuit (agility ladder/front movement, lateral hops,
agility ladder/lateral movement, jumping jacks, jump rope, jog/run).
Our ball passing drill returned with a slight makeover—the weighted
ball—which helped with arm strength, core strength, coordination,
functional movement and communication. Finally, we ended with our core
(abs/back) and a few stretches.
