Pick up the weights ladies

Women's FitnessWeight TrainingStrength Training
By Krystal Shuga

I love lifting weights it is such an empowering thing for a women to come up to a barbell and know she can lift over 100lbs off the floor. Wonder women here i come! Honestly when i started my weightloss journey i didn't lift weights at all. I started with cardio like treadmills, bikes and any machine i could find. Great for endurance but doesn't do much for strength. I know a lot of women don't think we need a lot of strength or think that will make you look bulky or grow muscles in places you didn't even know you had them. Trust me ladies strong is the new skinny. How much dragging toddlers, lifting groceries and just bending do we do everyday. Strength training in essence is prep for our everyday routines. To help make it easier, to help us lift more. Muscles not only help with everyday activities they also make us look good. You can have muscles and still look feminine. Weightlifitng also helps boost your metabolism to burn more fat during the week and build stronger bone density. If you don't use it you lose it promise, that is why many older adults break bones so easy because of loss of bone density. Hire a personal trainer and hit the weights you will be glad you did. Don't look for those 5lb dumbbells they sell at the store they are just making us look like wimpy women that can't lift a paper weight off the floor. Learn form, have a program designed and get to it.

Krystal Shuga

I am a mother, personal trainer and fitness enthusiast. In 2011 I had reached a weight that not only made me depressed but was heading me towards diabetes and other conditions caused by obesity. I changed my life with small changes at first but over time lost over 65lbs and have been maintaining. I am currently certified ACE-personal trainer and a Zumba® instructor .I believe it takes time to reach our goals but if we start with small manageable goals and keep working hard we can all reach them no matters what obstacles we have in our way.
