Congratulations, if you are reading this message that means you are still in the Land of the Living. That is something to celebrate. It was a long weekend but restful, which for me is a blessing. There are many things we can set out to do today, but looking at how we lved our lives yesterday, let's take a moment and play Monday Morning Quarterback. Are there any moments you could think of and say "I should/could have done or handled that differently".
Well, if you do have a MMQ moment, be thankful you recognize room for improvement or change, so make the most of this day, live your life as best as you can. Encourage someone, be involved, if it is in you, then a difference maker you will be today.
Walking, the lost fitness art! When you consider everywhere we go our first thought normally is to park as close to the door/entrance as possible :-) I am getting in the habit of parking a least a block away and walking, yeah I know, how long will that last. Well, the more we consciously walk to destination, avoid the elevtor or escaltor, the more we try and reach tha magic number of 10,000 steps the better we going to take care of our heart.
So, next time you are out and about, take a walk :-)
Americans spend an estimated $42 billion annually on weight loss foods, products, and services. With that much money at stake, it's no surprise there are an overwhelming number of "fad" diets and other weight-loss products on the market. I am in awe of the number of "fad" diets on the market as well, by last count I am at 40 and counting.
Everyone want's to lose weight fast, without thought or consequence to, in some cases, the irreversible effect most of these programs will have on you. Before you embark on the quick dite, fast weight loss program of the month how about doing some due diligence and homework on what is the recommended foods to eat and portions consumed. Just food for thought :-) check out My Plate (see link below), this is a trusted source and a great guide to get you started.
There has been a great deal of controversy swirling around the recent ad campaign here in Georgia regarding the Childhood Obesity billboards and video! I see the posters and have posted some of the commercials currently airing on local television here. The larger point is addressing the problem, yes it is in your face, but is there any nice way to address this?
In order to experience fantastic health, I believe both vigorous and gentle exercises are necessary. Vigorously exercising your body to have a sustained increase in heart rate for at least 20-60 minutes, 3-5 times per week, not only improves your cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular function, it also helps you eliminate toxins from your body. Finding a form of exercise that you enjoy and have fun doing, exponentially improves the benefits you experience from exercising. To people who tell me they don't enjoy exercising,
I reply: It's because you haven't tried every type of exercise or sport that exist and therefore you haven't found the one that fits you like a glove. I am continually amazed about the types of sports of which I tell myself I would have no interest in partaking, only to find that learning and playing them is great fun when I give myself the opportunity.
During states of optimal health, exercise is balanced with rest. Sleep is incredibly important to recharge, repair and heal the body as many healing substances produced by the body are secreted at this time. Insomnia is a common complaint and the answers to this complaint can be found by attending to one or more of the other 5 components of health.
Ensuring that you take time-outs to recharge is wise. Pacing yourself with your day-to-day activities, your wants and your desires, is even wiser. I have seen too many people crash and burn because rest was not implemented as part of a healthy lifestyle. Of course there are wonderful opportunities that come from crashing and burning, however, I believe there are more gentle ways to learn, grow, love and become healthy.
What a great day it is, even though it is raining, cloudy, dark outside, well those are things I have no control with whatsoever. What I do have control of is my attitude for the day and looking forward to doing what I love! It is a blessing to be in an opportunity to enjoy with sincere passion what you do and to see the direct impact it has on others. Be encouraged, be a blessing to someone today team.
Bring your A game? Yes, your ATTITUDE game to the gym. When you step into the training studio or gym you should have a singular focus, whatever it may be! For me, when I am training clients and going through my own exercise routines and progressions my focus and attitude is positive, stress free, goal oriented and completeness.
My attitude is everything, it sets the tone for my day! Have a powerful positive mental attitude today :-)
