Spring is Coming. Time for outdoor activities.

By Marie Powers
Heard the tree frogs last night, the birds early this morning, and we have had two days of sun!!!! Spring is almost here. Whether you were a gym rat or a recluse this winter, it's time to fall in love again with the outdoors and all it has to offer. Take that first outdoor jog and catch the excitement! Checked out the City of Branson Waterfall path a week or so ago. It's short but pretty. Dewey Short path has a few improvements and some of it is under construction but it's all accessible and pretty as ever. Lakeside has opened up the area around the old homestead and it's interesting to explore. And of course, Henning is a great hike any time of year. Because of the new bridge, there's a lot of traffic on Branson Landing Boulevard so it's not the best for biking this year. The Landing itself is still great for walking, jogging, and running if you stick to the lake side. With the new traffic pattern, the street side is a little dangerous. I've actually gotten hit by a car 5 times now! So word of warning, people trying to pull out of the parking lots on the street side are trying to find a short space to pull out into traffic and they are not watching foot traffic. Make sure they see you by waving at them and waiting for a response before crossing. I have been doing heart rate training in anticipation of doing the Half Ironman this year, so I'm doing a lot of jogs at a slower pace. Anyone is welcome to join me. And I do something most weekends - sometimes hike, sometimes bike, jog or fast walk. If anyone ever wants to join, let me know what you are interested in, and I will text you when I plan to go.

Marie Powers

Having been obese all of my adult life and losing half my body weight, I am the "no excuses" trainer. I see limitations as opportunities and am very familiar with working with the obese, seniors, those coming back from injuries, and those with special needs. I understand the mindset and obstacles of the obese. I believe life is to be lived and enjoyed, and I love working with others, especially those who have believed they were unable to be fit and active, to help them reach their life goals. My desire is to facilitate transformation of the whole person - body, soul, and spirit.
