This morning, I discovered a whole new reason for exercising intensely at the beginning of your day!
Have you ever seen Cesar Milan's show Dog Whisperer? He shows people how to help their dogs follow directions & be well-behaved. One of the techniques he uses for the unruly pups is to exercise the daylights out of them in order to remove all their excess energy and thus enable them to listen to obey the commands of their masters. What an ingenious idea... it really works - on people too!
Lately, I've been on a journey of personal struggle that takes up a ton of mental and emotional energy. I worry a lot, unnecessarily, about the outcome of things. My brain swims in a bunch of what-ifs and if-onlys. When I get into these cycles, I become paralyzed & can't move forward into any sort of productive solution. Very counterproductive.
Now, I'll tell you - I believe in God & I believe in His deep love for me & I believe that He has a good and perfect plan for my life. I believe all this because I've come to a place in my life where I've seen Him work time and time again on my behalf. And none of it was because I deserve any bit of it, but simply because He loves me. I also believe that He gives me all these blessings of love and peace in the midst of my struggles not just to give me warm-fuzzies, but because He wants me to share these abundant blessings with others - to tell others about Him. So, when I get into my mental cycles of self-destructive and paralyzing thoughts, I end up not sharing anything with anybody. No bueno!
Back to my original thought - why it's an awesome idea to exercise like a mad woman at the beginning of my day. Same as with Cesar's dogs - it allows me to release all my excess and absolutely unnecessary mental energy so that I can listen to and obey the commands of my Master - Jesus Christ. As I jogged my neighborhood (I'm not a runner, so jogging does in fact spend me), I prayed; as I prayed God gave me peace as He helped me to organize my thoughts; as I received peace and organized thoughts it occurred to me to share with you about God's love - how He helped me, and how can help you.
Hence, this morning's blog! I pray you have a blessed and healthy day!
