Battle Blues with Balls, Balloons, and“ Socks?

By Megan Merchant

www.meganmerchant.com

Get rid of your indoor boredom with these games and a few house-hold items.  For adults as well as kids...Game On!

Balls

Kid Groups:  Play music with one person on the pause button.  When the music stops, that person shouts out a body part and everyone with a ball places that “body part” on the ball, no hands (knee, shoulder, chin, toe, etc).  Resume the music similar to musical chairs and drop the slowest person on each round.  Then switch the music controller and go again!

Silly Groups, All Ages:  Each time the music pauses, call out a “body part” to contact between the ball and your mate (or minus the ball).  Hold it between foreheads, hips, shoulders, elbows, and get your giggles on.  Make up your own version using Ellen’s Norwegian Nosedive as inspiration (at the least you'll laugh watching her audience play).

Balloons

Two or Four Person Ping-Pong:  For a more shy/quiet crowd, bat a balloon across your dining room table.  It must touch down on your table once between each pass.

Keep –Up:  Doesn’t matter who hits it up, but don’t let it touch the ground or a new round starts.  You can also count how many times a person hits it to keep it in the air and take turns on the keep-up.

Tag:  Pull the tied-end out, aim, and release to snap the balloon toward your target.  Tip:  You must be within 3 feet of the person you wish to tag because the balloon slows down quickly!

Socks (Clean Please...)

Two or More Tag:  If you have black and white sets, even better!  Pick a team and chase each other round the house trying to “tag” the other team.

Two or Four Person:  Place a barrier across a large room, such as couch pillows.  Which ever team can toss all their socks to the other side first, wins!  With four people, one teammate can throw over your color socks while your partner throws back the other team’s tosses.  Enjoy!
