When you think about a personal best usually the first thing that comes to mind is a person beating a time or previous record that was set by that individual. A few weeks ago I was asked to be a buddy runner in a 5k race for a school running club event. Prior to the event my 2nd grade buddy completed a practice 5k at a time of 37 minutes which I thought was really good time for him. Race day comes and he was just so excited that I was able to make it and I was really looking forward to running with him. To make a long story short he ran his 5k 27 minutes which was 10 minutes faster than his previous run. The look on his face when he saw his time was priceless.
A personal best doesn't have to be only in athletic events. It can also be applied to life as well. Last year I think I did a pretty good job at being a great husband and wonderful father. But I am not going to settle for last years best. Last years personal best is not going to be good enough for this year. My family deserves more and they will get it! Life is filled with so many challenges and obstacles that can weigh on your focus if you let it. This year let us all focus on achieving a personal best in all aspects of our life. Can you image the outcome if we succeed..
In reading a devotional this morning I came across these words and they really hit home to me, "No amount of human effort can fulfill God's laws. You were born of the Spirit when you believed. Now live by the Spirit. Cry out to God for Him to live His life in you, and He will accomplish your righteousness."
These are strong words but so true. I cannot begin to count how many times I catch myself trying to make something happen and get frustrated when things don't work out at that moment. It's a constant reminder that I (Michael Lansdowne) have the ability to do NOTHING without GOD. When I think back to all the times where I tried to make something happen and it looked like all was lost and at the right moment when I least expected it God made a way. I feel like sometimes we as people are no different than the Isrealites who God saved from the Egypt and were headed to the promise land and despite all that God had done for them they still doubted and waivered in their faith.
No matter where you are in terms of your walk with God just remember this. You can accomplish nothing without God so why not put your whole heart and trust in HIM. If you have goals don't try to accomplish them on your own but give it all the God and watch Him move in "HIS TIME" on your behalf. Stay encouraged, Stay humble, Stay thirsty for his word.
So it's a new year and the common theme is to come up with a New's Resolution for the new year. Many people focus on losing weight, spending time with love ones, or even focusing on being more organized. No matter what you decide to do just remember to take this one day at a time. To many of us look to far ahead and forget about the process that gets us to where we currently stand. Understand that there will be setbacks, and there will be moments where we feel the need to quit. But I want to encourage you to press on. Keep pushing forward and remember the small wins that got you where you are. If you feel you are in a valley reach out to friends, family, or you can shoot me a message. Sometimes we just need a little bit of encouragement to get back on our feet. So here's to achieving whatever it is you are striving to achieve. Stay focused and enjoy the small wins and losses along the road of success. =0)
Getting caught in the daily everyday grind can be quiet overwhelming. Being off for the holiday has really allowed me time to take in all the gifts that I have been given. Family time is so fragile, a precious gift. Many of us including myself can take this time for granted and continue to answer phone calls or waste away the time that has been given to us. Does it profit us to work this hard? And if so for what is the ultimate goal? Money can not and must not be the driving force. This in the end leads to nothing and brings forth nothing. If it is for your family then make sure you still MAKE time for them. The most painful thing in the world is to realize you wasted your entire life chasing after the dollar instead of chasing after the ones who hold your heart.
This life is so precious. Spending precious time with my wife and my litle ninja has reminded me of that. Every little moment I am so thankful. Being a parent is one of the greatest gifts that a person could have. Are you enjoying your precious moments. You don't have to have a child to enjoy precious moments. Just take a moment and look around. You are living in a moment right now. Be thankful for that moment no matter what season you are in.
L O V E...
A word so powerful but so misunderstood.
So many if us use this word but do we really mean it.
We are so quick to hate, lie, fight, and cheat.
But then take forever to forgive & forget.
We judge when we have no right.
We love with our mouths but not with out hearts.
Love isn't always perfect, and it may not always be pretty.
TRUE LOVE NEVER FAILS
But we fail.
We fail to fight for the things that we love.
Instead allowing meaningless things to tear our love apart.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to fall out of love.
When we fall out of love that is another word for giving up.
We can't love with our eyes alone because they deceive us.
We must love with our hearts.
Love in away that takes in all walks of life no matter their situation.
Love with our whole hearts.
Don't just love on the ones that smile back at you but the ones that frown and curse you.
L O V E....
No matter how bad it hurts.
L O V E...
No matter the day nor the hour...
L O V E...
God said out of all the commands in this world the most important one was to LOVE.
So open your heart and love someone today...
Because no matter what at the end of the day you are loved.
No matter what you do.
You will still be loved.
So you have nothing to lose and all to gain.
So... L O V E
Have you ever thought about why you workout? Is it maybe to lose weight, look better, health reasons, prepare for a sport or activity?
