I am now teaching aqua dance classes as well as aqua cardio classes at the JCC. Please contact me if you are interested in checking out these fun classes!
I recently received my Aqua Fitness Certification through IFA. I am going to start subbing Shallow Cardio Aqua classes at the JCC on August 21st, which happens to also be my birthday! :) I am working on adding Aqua Dance classes to the JCC schedule as well. FUN!! Please shoot me an email if you are interested in Aqua classes.
I am now offering a variety of classes at Fitness Flare. Check out their classes and rates on the website below. Let me know if you would like to attend any of the classes. Please email me at MileyLJoyce@gmail.com. Please note, the schedule is not permanent. I will be adding more classes and times in the future. Please let me know what days and times work best for you!
I was hired on today as a sub at Anschutz Health and Wellness Center! I will be subbing Zumba and Hip Hop classes. Hopefully I will be added to the schedule to teach a permanent class soon.
I am going to try multiple boot camps in the area to get an idea of what other classes I can teach. I would love to offer and sub boot camp classes at all of my gyms!
More great news, I am also going to be working part time at JCC Denver. If you are interested in a membership, or want to check the place out, let me know. It is an amazing facility with great classes, tons of equipment, and an indoor and outdoor pool,
I should have additional information about a new gym in the next few days. I will blog about it as soon as I have the details about this new gym and when the grand opening will be.
I taught my first class at 24 yesterday, and it was great! I would say there were 35-40 people in the class. There was so much energy in the room, and I received all positive feedback after the class. If you ever want to check out my classes at 24, I will be offering Zumba on Wednesdays at 9:00am at the Lowry location, and I will also teach a 6:45pm Zumba class at the Aurora Express location. My class at Aurora yesterday went great as well! There were less people in the class, due to the fact that the group exercise room is about half the size of other locations, but it was a BLAST! All I saw were red, smiling faces throughout the entire class :) I am looking forward to my future with 24 Hour Fitness!
My husband and I are going out of town next week for a wedding. All of my classes, excluding my KID FIT classes, will still be offered at the times and locations I have listed. I have a sub lined up for all of them. I will be bak June 3rd, ready to start some new classes! I am adding 2 Zumba classes at 24 Hour Fitness, and another evening class at JCC Denver. I am looking forward to adding more classes to my schedule each month! Please contact me if you are interested in any classes. Enjoy the rest of the month of May! This year is flying by!!
A couple of weeks ago I agreed to teach a line dancing class for an awards banquet. I had never taught a line dancing class, and wasn't 100% sure where to start... but I figured with my dance expierience and YouTube, I could put together a great class. I am happy to say that I DID! It was such a fun class, and I hope to offer more line dancing classes in the future. Not only do I want to teach them, I want to take some classes and learn as many routines as I can! Line Dancing is a great workout, it is super fun, and who doesn't like to bust a move on the dance floor at the bar, a wedding, or in this case, a country themed awards banquet?! New item to add to my resume... Line Dancing!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
For those of you who have attended one of my classes at 5280 Fitness, I am sad to announce that they closed the gym last week. I will miss my Cardio Dance and Zumba classes that I taught there! On a great note, 24 Hour Fitness hired me today. I filled out my new hire paperwork, and my start date with them will be 5/12. I am hoping to get on their schedule ASAP. I will keep you all posted, and I hope to see you at a class!
Next week I will start my lunch classes at JCC. This will be a Cardio Dance Fitness class, similar to the one I taught at 5280 Fitness. I hope to get a good following at this gym. It is a really great gym with super nice people. If you haven't been there, you should check it out! http://www.jccdenver.org/sports-fitness/
I have only had one or two people attend my Cardio Blast class at Powerhouse Gym Denver each Thursday. If the classes don't build up, I am going to switch my Thursday nights to teaching a Zumba class at JCC. I will make that decision later this month, and keep you all posted.
I am anxious to get my KID FIT classes started up this month as well. I am doing my first inside class at Pathways Church this Friday at 10:00!
I am starting up my KID FIT classes this month. I am needing feed back from parents on what days, times, and locations work best for you. I am available to offer the class Monday-Friday, morning and afternoon. I am also open to having the class on the weekends if I have enough interest. I can offer the class at a local park, or at the Pathways Church Ballroom which is located at:
|1595 Pearl Street Denver, CO 80203,|
If you are interested in signing up for a KID FIT class, please email me at MileyLJoyce@gmail.com.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Welcome to my blog! Where to begin?...
My name is Miley. Not Miley Cyrus, Miley Joyce. I have a passion for dance, and I love to share my passion with others. I have always either been on a dance team, or taught dance to others... really, since I can remember, dance has always been a huge part of my life. I have danced for basketball teams, baseball teams, and I have taught fitness classes at multiple locations.
After working in an office setting for 8 years, I decided that I wanted to try something new. I wanted to be more available to teach dance fitness classes to children, teens, and adults, so I quit my 40 hour a week job. So far, things have been great. I am teaching Cardio Dance Fitness and Zumba classes at gyms and business offices, and I am working on teaching at my church. I even got to participate at "career day" at a preschool where I had the opportunity to teach a sample class to about 100 kids. (I had 20 minutes with about 20 students, and then the next group would come in) That was the highlight of my month. I love teaching children, and hope to expand my career by offering classes to kiddos.
Why do I like teaching kids? Well.... I am not going to lie. I am a kid at heart. I love Disney Music, Disney Movies, Hula Hooping, Simon Says, pretty much anything that involves the innocence of having fun and just being a kid. Kids enjoy the simple things in life, and I can relate to them.
I have noticed that kids spend most of their time in front of the TV either watching TV shows or playing video games that do not require them to move more than their fingers. Kids are getting less active and wanting to spend less time doing what I did best as a kid…. Playing. I played hard. I was always riding my bike, building an imaginary tree house, swimming, playing tag, having “dance recitals” in the front yard, and countless other activities. I think we need to get kids off the couch, and on the dance floor. I want them to focus on being active by dancing, playing games, and learning about what they can do to be healthy. Most of all, I want to make it fun. All in all, I want to start a Kidfit program. The name says it all; it will be a kid fitness program.
I hope to have my first Kidfit class next week. I would like to give people the opportunity to come check it out and see what I have to offer. Wish me luck!
