I totally understand and feel for you. I have been in your shoes, trying all kinds of things I heard here and there, before my health training and education set me straight. What works for someone else is not guaranteed to work for you. This is exactly the reason I choose to work in the health industry: I figure out and decipher what will work for you to reach your goals.
For me, I like to maintain my health for the ability to optimize my quality of life. Normal is not good enough; reaching for the above normal range when it comes to health and fitness will keep you going strong longer with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

How did you do with your healthy lifestyle throughout January? Can you believe that we are half way through February, already? Time truly does fly, whether we are having fun or not.
How can we improve the planet while improving our health? Simple, by eating fresh food, which does not need packaging, that way there is less refuse, if any at all, when we compost the leftover produce. Have you ever thought of it that way before? I only have compost if my dogs don't get to it before I reach the compost pile. Actually, the produce is just as good for the animals as it is for us, anyway. Just check with your veterinarian what is safe for your beloved pets.
So, when an unsupportive someone tells you that it is a waste of time, money, or some other excuse, to eat naturally, please remind them that it is good for the planet we share. If they use the recycling excuse, you can bring up that compost is also recycling done without power sources. As for price, the fresh produce goes farther than we think; look at the serving sizes of produce.

Now is the most popular time of year to get the body in motion by joining a gym or starting an exercise regimen.
If you are new to exercise, please be sure to get approval from your family physician before doing something new and/or different.
If you are experienced, break time is over; go ahead and try to kick things up a notch to continue progressing...safely with the aid of your trainer/support system.
Remember this, if you don't like to start over, then don't quit in the first place.

Please be sure to have the same tests done at your doctor visit that the rest of the population has done. Just because you are thin does not mean there are not issues going on around your organs that need to be addressed, for your own well being.
Please do not assume that all is well; take care of yourself like the rest of us need to do and you will feel so much better. Having more quality time with loved ones and favored activities is worth it, right?

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and everyone's looking forward to getting together with family and indulging (why not?).
Fortunately, we have put together 10 ways for you to 'have your turkey and eat it too.'
Here they are:
1. Drink plenty of water throughout the week - especially before heavy meals.
2. Walk off that big dinner (you can even make it a family outing and exercise while enjoying one another's company.
3. Create a caloric deficit by upping your exercise routine the week of the big meal.
4. Make simple substitutions, such as lighter milk and cream, to enjoy your favorite treats without the heavy health impact.
5. Make small cutbacks on sugars and salts involved in the cooking process as most recipes call for more than is needed.
6. Continue to have evenly-paced meals throughout the day. Having a normal breakfast and lunch will help you to refrain from overdoing it at dinner and dessert.
7. Use smaller plates. Many times people will overeat purely because they pile larger portions onto wide plates. Give yourself a mental edge by using a smaller plate and having smaller portions.
8. Eat slowly to allow your body time to begin digestion. You may find yourself feeling full far earlier than you would have thought.
9. Beware of alcohol intake. It's easy to drink more than your normal amount during holidays, but too much alcohol can cause a variety of problems, including dehydration.
10. Relax. Stress is a huge health risk and contributes to a vast variety of ailments. Allow yourself to enjoy the holiday.
Okay, here we go again. Plastic surgery techniques are improving and availabe to just about anyone; but, does the outward appearance result in overall health? Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, besides, we are our own worst critics.
You still need to take care of your health after the procedure; so, why not save money and the risk involved, by taking care of your health from the start? Think about it: what good does shrinking the fat cells surgically do if you are going to revert to the poor habit lifestyle?

You could try speaking with your friends, neighbors, coworkers, doctors, etc., to find out what works for them and bounce ideas off each other. People will be more than happy to help you and share their own success story, I am sure.
So why not go outdoors and strike up a conversation with someone or just enjoy the sights and sounds? Make this the first step on your way to a lifetime of good health and happiness.
We have all heard that walking is one of the best ways to get your exercise; since, we are made to walk; but, have you heard the story about the person who literally healed themselves by walking? A man was told by his doctor that he needed surgery to remove a blood clot from his leg or he could walk to improve the situation and avoid an operation.
Believe it or not, the walking program this man adhered to made more blood vessels to detour blood flow around the blood clot. No surgery needed and the man is fully recovered without going under the knife.
How is that for motivation? Good thing I love to walk. I hope to see you all out there.

The residents of Philadelphia and visitors must be able to travel independently, long distances on hard concrete surfaces and be prepared for any weather condition. I am sure there are many who commute without the use of public transportation, run races, and take care of their health all year long, who laugh in the face of surprises like this one in Philadelphia: no cars allowed in certain areas and you may leave but not re-enter with the vehicle.
