Keep Swinging for the Fence

Keep Swinging for the Fence I hope you all have been keeping fit throughout 2016. Now, if you are one of those people who wished they did more, for a myriad of reasons, you have tomorrow to start again! Fortunately, there are a number of online tools, apps, and posts that can help you sort it all out. My favorite is working with certified coaches, or certified personal trainers (CPT). Additionally, for me as a CPT, I have been in the company of first rate pros. That usually leads directly to their Facebook (FB), App, or blog site. Also, I have several books that I always go to for clarification. Here are some of the more helpful sources for putting your fitness game plan together, as well as moving it forward. Three of my go to reads are: The Athletes Guide to Sports Supplements, Mueller & Hingst, 2013, Human Kinetics, Champaign, IL Delaviers Women” Strength Training Anatomy Workouts, Delavier and Gundill, 2015, Human Kinetics, Champaign, IL Physical Training for Tactical Populations: An Optimal Approach, Wenning and Ivezaj. This is a manual available from WenningStrength.com For me this past year, I have continued to use the conjugate method for strength training. Coach and international power lifting champ Matt Wenning put together a program for me. Whenever possible, I try to attend Matt’s seminars and presentations. Even if you have a strength program, it forever needs tweaking with sets, reps, and exercises. For me, training sessions are always worthwhile. Aqua fitness has been a big part of my workout program as well. The great thing about the water workouts is that they can be designed for any individual to address specific weaknesses, and build strength. It really helps during the hot Florida summers, when running may not be the cardio pick of the day. Plus, you have to mix up the cardio to keep it fresh. I have seen great success by my clients in the pool. Go forward, get strong, and improve your fitness level this year. Have some fun with it. Add in a challenge, or train with a like minded partner. Work hard, and knock it out of the park! Stay strong friends. Happy 2017!
