By Shane Mclean

Weather is getting warmer and it becomes more important to replace lost fluids. However drinking water is not your only option. Eat these foods to replace lost fluids.
1. Yogurt has 88% water content by weight.
2. Celery has 95% water content by weight.
3. Watermelon has 91% water content by weight.

Hope this helps.

10 FAT LOSS MISTAKES

Weight LossStress/Stress ManagementFat LossResistance trainingNutrition
By Shane Mclean
Great advice from Paula Owens. Please read and take note!

Are you sabotaging your fat loss efforts with these 10 common and destructive mistakes? Be honest now….
1
. How much alcohol are you consuming each week?
2. Are you exercising TOO much?
3. Your idea of stress management is consuming 2-3 cocktails every night or numbing your emotions by eating an entire package of gluten-free cookies.
4. Fail to prioritize 7-9 hours of restful sleep every night.
5. ...You spend hours on the elipitcal, treadmill or stairclimber.
6. Weight training, if done at all, consists of lifting nothing heavier than 12-15 lb. dumbbells.
7. You count every calorie, diet often or avoid eating fat for fear of getting fat.
8. Breakfast is a syrupy latte and bagel.
9. You're not seeing results after 1 week on a program and jump to the next best (worst) thing.
10. You don't "like" protein and never met a carb you didn't like.

WORK=RECOVERY=PROGRESS.

Client ProgressStress/Stress ManagementStrength TrainingRecovery
By Shane Mclean

Greg Robins from Cressey Performance coined this term this morning in his blog. A increase in work (training) means you need to increase your recovery to see greater progress. Work does include all those outside stressors( family, lack of sleep, work). What does that mean for you? If you have a great training session but you return late from work and your child wakes up during the night ill, please take a extra day to recover. Your body will thank you.

MUSCLE TONE

Strength TrainingResistance training
By Shane Mclean

.

Just let me get scientific for a momment. Ther are too types of muscle tone, 1. myogenic - which is what your muscles look like at rest. Either look 'soft' or 'dense' ie ripped. 2 Neurogenic- What you muscles look like when they are moving, like when your are flexing in front of the mirror.

So, to develop these two types of muscle tone, doing high reps with low weights so you can feel the burn is OUT. There is no science or reasearch behind that theory. Heavier weights and lower reptitions are IN.

Next time you are training, crank out a few sets of 7 reps with a heavier weight than usual. Your body and muscles will thank you

By Shane Mclean

Sorry to leave you out of this one guys. Exercising while pregnant has many benefits for mother and baby. Lets stay with mum. Staying strong and fit is important because of the many changes that are taking place physically and emotionally. Also getting mum ready for a safe labour and delivery Here are 2 things girls, that you can use right away.

1. TRAIN THE BACKSIDE- W...ill all that weight pulling you forward setting you up for low back pain and poor posture her are two exercises you should do. Resistance band or machine rows the upper back and the Sumo Deadlift either with a dumbbell or a kettlebell for the weakened and stretched glutes. Google for demo's.

2. DOUBLE YOUR PULLING TO PUSHING EXERCISES- Like i mentioned above, any exercise for the upper back is great. Rows , with resistance band, machines or dumbbells. This will give you are strong back and will stop the chest muscles from becoming too tight.

Hope this helps. Have a great Monday.

I was 6' 2inches and a whopping 145 pounds in my early 20's. With alot of guess work and reading and watching what people do in the gym i am now a strong 180 pounds. Focusing on getting stronger will help with lean mass , fat loss and whatever goals you have. Cause stronger is better. Period.
