Osteoporosis and Exercise

By Tammara Pasquariello

Many people believe that they can't exercise when they find out they have osteoporosis. Although prevention of bone loss begins with a consultation with your doctor, once you are cleared for exercise it is one of the most important actions that you can take to help prevent further loss of bone. Weight bearing exercise is needed in order to build bone density. There are many elements of safety to remember such as avoiding forward bending and twisting of your spine while strength training. I can help create a safe, effective, personalized routine for you and make sure that your exercise is pain free and that you are maintaining good posture throughout your workout. The best program to combat osteoporosis combines elements of exercise, drugs prescribed and proper nutrition. Next week I will discuss some of the important foods that you should be eating that are packed with bone strengthening nutrients.

About Me View Profile

Tammara Pasquariello

I love being outside hiking, mountain biking, cycling, walking my dogs, even yard work! I use my fitness routine at the gym to stay fit enough to enjoy these activities. To me, staying fit is all about being healthy and strong enough to enjoy all that life has to offer. I strive to help my clients maximize their potential. I have many years of experience with seniors in particular. Although they might not want to go snow boarding, they enjoy life much more if they can do their day to day activities with out loosing their balance and falling, or not having the endurance to finish what they set out to do. Getting fit for life helps life be enjoyable.
