Whether you have reached a plateau in your weight-loss journey or it is going slower that you want or you have had a big backwards slide - remember to always return to the steps that will help you realize your dream of a healthier and happier body!
While I know from personal experience that it is really fun to see larger losses on the scale and not as fun to plateau or lose only 1/4 pound a week, I do understand that the changes I make in my eating and fitness activities that I will stick with are better in the long haul. This is because these newly formed habits slowly become part of my day-to-day living and are not grandiose or too restrictive all at once. This approach leads to albeit slower, though more permanent changes in my body. There are many of us who have lost and gained the same weight over and over for different reasons - usually because we turn to diets and short-term restrictions rather that to lifelong lifestyle changes.
I am now in the middle of this process as I have currently lost 25 pounds of the 50 extra pounds that I have been carrying around for way too long. And this time I plan on keeping it off! The changes I have already made are really who I am now, not a short-term non-permanent solution.
There are so many weight-loss products on the market, get thin quick schemes and different diet plans, that is is easy for us humans to get caught up with finding the perfect tool that will help us make it to our ideal weight. And when we fail we blane the tool - that somehow it was not the right thing.
I believe, that while it is helpful to find the right food combinations and new ways of eating, the most inspiring and knowledgable fitness professionals to guide us - that we ourselves are the best weight-loss tool we have. And our unending wish for a better life and living more happily in our body and the desire to feel better - or whatever it is that motivates us to make some changes. And when we find that certain approaches aren't working or aren't good for us, or we slip backwards - that we always get back on the horse and keep going towards our weight-loss and fitness goals. Buidling faith in ourselves as determined, smart and intuitive beings who can find the best approach at every turn!
And never giving up on our weight-loss goals!
