I moved to Hillcrest, San Diego from Los Angeles about 6 months ago. I had started an after school yoga program at the local public school for a couple of years before I moved to San Diego. I have to say, the difference yoga had on these teens lives was amazing. There were many reasons why these teens signed up: curiosity, wanting to get into shape, their friends were doing it, they wanted to have something of their own. As the months went on, not only did they get into shape and find something to make their own, but they started to develop better self esteem, respect their bodies more, respect their peers more and have a better love for themselves and those around them.
Coming from an educational background, being a speech language pathologist and yoga teacher, I have always noticed the importance of giving back to our community, specifically our youth. Yoga has impacted my life in many amazing ways and I want to be able to give back and do the same to a population I feel who needs it the most, our teenagers. I wish I had done this as a teen myself.
These first two classes are FREE because I want to use this as an opportunity to introduce myself to the community and give our local teens a chance to try something new without any obligations. After these two classes, each class scheduled will be 5 dollars per student. The price is low because I feel that it is more important to make a difference than it is to make a buck, and if this means I can reach out to more of our youth, then lets go!
