"How did you get into (insert profession here)" is a question every adult is asked either by clients, co-workers, friends, family, etc. or all of the above. For me, I consider myself lucky to enjoy my work with exercise, helping challenge themselves and revamp their lifestyle to increase their quality of life.
I always wanted to teach in some form because it is a thrill to help someone challenge themself to reach or go beyond what they thought their capabilities were (seeing the latter unfold is a feeling that is totally unmatched).
The other portion comes from my competitiveness. Not so much with others as just competing against myself, because I never thought I would be able to be successful in any form unless I could bring my best out. It was sports like golf, track and exercise where I truly found that salvation. I was never good enough at the first two to take them past recreation activity or high school athletics respectively, but for some reason I always had knack when it came to grasping exercise techniques/principles that coaches taught us and relaying it to teammates or friends who struggled with them in various ways.
Fortunately for me, I had the opportunity, and was able to go from just having a "knack", to having specific knowledge about the body and exercise that has allowed me to turn a passion into a profession.
Any questions? feel free to email me...and I promise this will be the last post about me that has no useful information for others in it.
