People wake up each and every day hoping that this is the day their health doesn’t take a turn for the worse.From heart issues to myriad of other health problems to deal with, having a healthy outlook on life plays as big a part as any, especially on the psyche.With that being the case, how can medical professionals and individuals in general better position themselves to help one another when that day comes and one’s health is in jeopardy?
Prelude: On Training versus Calling One of the standard questions any adult asks a young child they first meet is, “What do you want to be when you group up?”. By the time that young person is a teenager the question has usually shifted to, “What do you want to do when you are out of school?” The question is whether this is a shift, or if the being and the doing should or must have some connection.
The year 2013 closed with considerable public focus on extreme fitness activities. Obstacle courses, fitness races and almost cultlike fitness activities have garnered ever increasing public interest and fitness industry market share. However, at the same time, these events have heightened public and media focus on fitness activity injuries and deaths as well as the qualifications of fitness professionals such as personal trainers.
So lately I've been following the Insanity workout and have been enjoying it. Yes I said enjoying it. In less than a month I will take on the Insanity Certification and cannot wait. This fall I will begin teaching Insanity classes at The Body Mill. If high intensity interval Training is the challenge you are looking for then stop on in. The results from Insanity are amazing. This is actually my second time doing the program. Almost anyone can do Insanity. The key is to follow your own pace and listen to your body. Rest when needed.
Recently at work my boss mentioned to me that they need more TRX certified trainers, it took me about two seconds to think about it before I said I would do it. Sunday April 7th I will become certified and I am so excited about this for many reasons.The first is I will then be able to use the TRX system when working one on one with Personal Training clients.The second is I love to teach and help people and this is going to not only allow me the opportunity to do group classes but also give me contact with more people who can potentially turn into PT clients.
