I’m trying something new. Some of my clients asked for a challenge, so I created Healthy Habits Challenges for the rest of this year. The first challenge starts this month. We’re doing a 21-day AB Challenge and a Water Challenge. Why not a 30 day challenge? Because it takes 21 days to create a habit and most people fall off after 2 weeks, so let’s see if 3 weeks works.I’ve posted the 21-Day AB Challenge here and on my other social media sites:
Day 7 of our Personal Best 30 Day Challenge and you are still on the path. That in itself is a victory! The energies that inundate our daily lives; mental, psychological, physical, biological, hereditary, social, environmental, ethical, political and metaphysical, all have positive and negative forces competing for victory.
Day 5 of our Personal Best 30 Day Challenge and my attempt at eventual transformation has proven more difficult than anticipated. ARGG! I am the leader! I’m the one that has thrown down the gauntlet! Am I going to let this challenge make minced meat out of me? I have stayed true to my 30 minutes of evening meditation however; my day game is way off. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t beat myself up about this however; my goal is to augment my spiritual acuity, not redistribute it.
There’s always such hope for great change at the beginning of a New Year. However, most of us feel like we can begin to improve our lives tomorrow. After all, it’s only the 10th day of the year. We still have 355 days to get it right.
Perseverance - the quality that allows someone to continue trying to do something even though it is difficult; continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.It is through difficult times and challenges that we find our strength, courage and character, sometimes it is so deep down inside, we didn't even know it was there.
Yesterday was a challenging day for me. I set the bar high for myself with a 3 mile hill repeat run followed by a 90 minute hot yoga class. Twice I found myself right on the edge. I felt like I had no more to give, and slightly sick, but I pulled something from somewhere and finished the workouts. By the end of the yoga class I was limping in, but I finished, and I felt so accomplished it's not even funny.
So lately I've been following the Insanity workout and have been enjoying it. Yes I said enjoying it. In less than a month I will take on the Insanity Certification and cannot wait. This fall I will begin teaching Insanity classes at The Body Mill. If high intensity interval Training is the challenge you are looking for then stop on in. The results from Insanity are amazing. This is actually my second time doing the program. Almost anyone can do Insanity. The key is to follow your own pace and listen to your body. Rest when needed.
Do you ever get in a food slump and find yourself cooking and eating the same thing week after week? We are! Couple that with multiple friends encouraging us to buy supplements because "surely no one gets enough recommended fruits and vegetables" and my slump has peaked. Time to improve!
