After Barcelona (2012), Budapest (2013), Amsterdam (2014) and Lisbon (2015), it is now time for Athens (2016) to host a must attend event for certification organizations, training providers, operators of health & fitness centers, and national registers of exercise professionals. I am honored and delighted to be invited as speaker/panelist to this prestigious global event for fifth consecutive year, and now in my home country Greece.
If you’re a fitness professional such as a personal trainer, nutritionist, or yoga teacher, success is determined largely by the amount of knowledge and motivation you have to offer. That means two things—bolstering your skill set with new certifications, and spending time around other pros who are just as excited about the industry as you.
My morning started with a great dance workout with Tahneetra Crosby and her Soul Train House Party session at IDEA World Convention. Tahneetra brought us way back to the Jordache, Snake, classic soul train line and old school party music. My next session was “Going Solo-How to Open Your Own Business”. The dynamic ladies of Oakland, CA, Shane Barnard and Miwa Natsuki of Urban Kick had a great session on the do’s and don’ts of starting your own business.
Last weekend, Perform Better allowed us an amazing chance to hear some of the greatest men and women in our industry share their wisdom with us. Among those who stood out from the rest were Martin Rooney, Todd Wright, Ingrid Marcum, Todd Durkin, Gray Cook and Thomas Plummer. From their many ideas a few underlying concepts surfaced, functionality and self-improvement.
