The main purpose of carbohydrates is to give us the energy we need to fuel our activities. This energy comes from the breakdown of starches and sugars to their simplest forms, which your cells can then easily convert to usable power.

Functional Fitness- For Stronger Living
That's great just remember that one size doesn't always fit all. Have fun with it and modify as you see fit.  Also, if you ever have any specific questions about your routine or how to optimize your use of the machines, free weights, or core exercises, let me know.  If you can prioritize sleeping smarter, lowing chronic stress and inflammation, utilizing better hydration strategies, and creating quick and easy healthy snacks from more nutrient-dense items that would be great and you will on your way to living stronger.

Most of us at some point have ask the same question...Should I eat before my workout?Yes, studies have shown that working out on an empty stomach will burn more fat during exercise BUT will also reduce the energy levels to exercise and increase the risk of overeating later on. You wouldn't run your car on en empty tank? right? Why would you run your body on an empty stomach? In order to regulate our blood sugar levels we SHOULD eat regulary throughout the day. Specially

How would you rate your average energy level throughout the day? If you’re like most people, you wake up tired, spend the day caffeinating in order to keep energy levels up, and then crash as soon as your daily responsibilities are over.

Functional Fitness- For Stronger Living
Dear readers, fans, and stronger living enthusiasts, Isn't it hard to do the things we want to do even when we KNOW deep down that it is in our best interest? Example #1- making time to think, clear our minds, clear our schedule for a morning or afternoon to get caught up, reflect, relax, write a blog post, etc.Example #2- visiting with a true friend, going for a walk, getting coffee or food, etc.Example #3- exercising to feel better mentally and physically, leading to more patience, healthier diet choices, etc, etc.

Some days it's a chore to get out of bed, to get through the morning routine, through the workday. Life gets busy and fitting in time to workout is not always a priority. One thing I've learned is that no matter how much of a chore it may be getting to the gym or fitting in a workout - once I get there and challenge my body to react, to be fluid, to breathe -  that's a decision I could never regret. I feel revitalized, cleansed, strong- physically and mentally. Destressed and prepared for lifes' challenges. Build a strong frame to last and never regret a workout.

You might think this is the most basic/common sense post ever, yet I wouldn’t talk about it, if I didn’t see importance in it. I’m one who doesn’t believe in small talk or pointless conversations.

The human body functions due to a balance of nutrients. These include vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates and other similar nutrients. Without their sufficient presence, the human body can become prone to multiple health conditions. On the other hand, the excess of certain nutrients can also be harmful. Therefore, it is important to have the right amount of all required nutrients.

Most nutritionists recommend eating something within 30 minutes after a workout. Your body, after using up its available energy, needs to be refueled. Specifically with carbs and protein—for energy and to repair the microdamage that exercise does to your muscles.
