Has anyone ever started a fitness challenge? I would like to hear about it!I will be participating in my first Triathlon in October. I have raced in different obstacle races and running races but never a triathlon. First off there is a novice race I will try out on August 9th to get my feet wet on what it will be like to transition between swimming, biking and running.Are there any other suggestions on what I should do to prepare?

AMP Personal Fitness and the Adoption Awareness Foundation have partnered to form the Active for Adoption Endurance Event Team.  Active for Adoption Endurance Event Team is a training and fundraising program.   Since we just formed in September 2013, this year is at a very grassroots level.  Next year we plan on continued growth to bring this team up to the same levels as other endurance training teams.

I have just registered a team for the Walk for Hope as I have since 1996. The Foundation of Hope is a charity which raises money for research into mental illness.  The way they distribute the money is to give so-called ‘seed money’ which enables researchers to do the work necessary to apply for grants for comprehensive research. By using this method, the Foundation of Hope has been instrumental in securing millions of dollars to find cures or relief for those suffering from mental illnesses.

Our June 8th 2nd Annual Memorial Run was a success.  We had 135 participants, and raised $2,142 for Wounded Warriors, Tempered Steel, and Fisher House.  Thank you to all of our sponsors, and those who supported this event.  Mark your calendars, the event will be held next year on Saturday June 7, 2014.

Working out. Those are either dreaded words or they are the words you live by. What is it about working out that drives people? I strive to be a workout junkie and to motivate others to start working out. This can be challenging because I think in some ways society has created working out to be equal to losing weight. So when you become unmotivated or slack off on eating healthy then the active part of your life falls away also.

Hey everyone!I’ve been volunteering my fitness and wellness services at one of the Homeless Shelters in San Jose.  The women and children have been giving me such positive feedback on the benefits of the activities we do together.  They have been feeling more optimistic and are learning about the importance of fitness and taking “mental vacations”. Some have requested I come more often and others suggested I expand to other shelters in the area. So, I’m doing it!
