The importance of cross training involves combining strength, endurance, flexibility, mobility and mindbody disciplines on a weekly schedule is a key component to avoiding a fitness plateau along with injury prevention. We as humans fall easily into a habit of doing the same routine and our bodies adapt and adjust to the comfort and ease over time. Also neglecting other areas of fitness can lead to injury and overuse.

On July 3rd I crossed the border into the large and beautiful country of Canada. It was a trip over a year in the making that had absolutely nothing to do with fitness, which is what I wanted. After spending the month of May teaching over 60 group exercise classes along with my personal training schedule I was burned. I accepted a position in a balloon shop to study more about my balloon hobby.

With so many of you embarking on a new exercise journey, today I want to answer some frequently asked questions on how to exercise properly so you can make this year your healthiest year ever! Q:  How Long Do I Need To Exercise For?Depending on whether you're performing full body or training specific muscle groups, a strength training routine should take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.  Add another 10 - 60 minutes if your including cardiovascular (aerobic) activity.

Are you ready?1) plan all your meals 2) eat out no more than 2 times per week 3) get lots of sleep 4) exercise daily 5) plan for all of your cheat meals 6) relieve your stress daily with meditation, yoga, exercise, massage, accupuncture 7) Stick to your grocery list and buy only what you need; avoid overeating. 8) eat healthy 90% of the time. 9) make a decision to maintain a healthy weight and do it! 10) spend MOST of your time with freinds and family that will not sabotage you by over-eating, exposure to bad or unhealthy food or habits.

  When I was much younger, my brother, sister and I lived with my dad. My parents divorced when I was around 9 years old and my father obtained custody of us.
