What's Your Story?
Being healthy is more than just working out and eating right! It's making intentional choices, on a DAILY basis, to do things that are good for you. Physically, you definitely want to exercise, eat healthy and wholesome foods, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep. But, remember, you are more than just a body - you are also spirit, which includes your intellect, your emotions, your very soul! So be intentional about taking good care of these, too. Pray, read, foster healthy relationships, smile, be thankful, help others.

A big thing I’ve been preaching to my clients as of late is to persevere through all obstacles.  We all have them: injuries, job, family, relationships, and mentally.  My words might not always come out like this, but I’m trying to say, “Stay calm, be strong,” more or less.  What I mean is that I don’t want clients to become overstressed.  Don’t sweat the things you can’t control – the things that are beyond our control.  Control what you can control and you’ll take care of business in the other areas.

Sarah's Fitness Journey
My very first half marathon is in October, it's happening... I already paid for it! I've been following a training plan for my running, and have been doing pretty well. I've built up to 10 miles for my long runs. The shorter runs have been mainly on the treadmill due to the August heat, but that heat wave broke and the weather has been much more conducive to running outside. I will be making sure to keep the hills in my planning so once a week I go visit my parent's house to "borrow" their hills (my current location is pretty flat...

The Bugatti Body
Juggling a busy schedule that consists of 40-60 hours in the office, home, life, kid, and animal responsibilities (if you have them) is enough to deter anybody from squeezing in gym time/workout time. However, that does not mean that you are doomed from being healthy.

This month in my blog I am going to get a little personal.  As a trainer and nutritionist I always get my workouts in, and 90% of the time I have a great nutritional balance.  I know you all think that trainers are a 100% all the time but its not true.  Even if they tell you that, its not true.  No one can be 100% all the time.  Anyway...

The headline says it all, "US Waistlines Expands Despite More Exercise". So if we're exercising, why are we still obese? Isn't exercise the "cure"? As a personal trainer and fitness professional, I'd like to say yes.  However, Americans can't lose weight until we become honest about how we eat.
