Setting up a home gym, whether a spot on the floor for a mat and a couple of weights, or a dedicated room with a selection of equipment, is like setting up a business: it is generally better to have a plan in place than to approach it piecemeal. One wastes a lot less time, money, and energy. This doesn't mean one should buy or do everything at once. It is a way of spending wisely based on needs and resources.
The gym or local health club can be a very intimidating environment in Bethesda. From the very fit guy dropping his weights on the floor to the super fit woman who is showing just about her entire body, the gym in Bethesda can make you feel self conscious and not very worthy. However, are you aware that you can get just as good, if not better, workout from the comfort of home?
Trainers often ask me what fitness equipment I recommend they take to their clients’ homes. Many factors influence which pieces of equipment a trainer might choose to invest in for use in clients’ homes, so there really is no definite answer. Some things to consider are: economics, logistics, the trainer’s level of experience with various kinds of equipment, and each client’s fitness level, age, physical limitations, and goals.
