Labor Day, the holiday that indicates summer's over is just around the corner. Where has the time gone? Seems like were we just looking forward to the Memorial Holiday and about to kick off summer. The older I get the more I realize time is precious and fleeting. Fact is I feel as though I should be working right now. Throwing caution to the wind, taking a walk on the wild side, here I sit thinking. Thinking about time, goals and the fact I need to get my 'ducks in a row' so to speak. Goals...
So the other day I was talking to a client about exercise and the way it can make you feel not only better physically, but mentally as well. My point was that studies show that exercise is AS effective as a chemical anti-depressant.
About a week ago we have the opportunity to visit our son Kieran who was interning in Bath, Maine this summer. We were able to climb, I say climb because hiking would not be the word, as there were no switch backs Cadillac Mt. in Acadia National Park. We had a great day with Kieran and a marvelous day to hike. We visited 6 different cities in Maine, each one more beautiful than the next! PLEASE go out and enjoy what nature has to offer. Nothing invigorates you more! If you missed the early summer posts on various benefits of exercising outdoors, please scroll down and take a peak.

I have been training for my first triathlon and it has brought on different challenges. One of my main challenges has been to fit in swimming training. I am not a fan of public pools and do not live to close to a lake where I can train during the week. I have added rowing into my routine and try to row about 6000 meters every couple days. Will this work? Or are there better directions to go then rowing?
I'm so pleased to have recently found this community, with all of the resources to add to my expanding business! I will say up front, sometimes it seems like I barely have time to take care of the necessities in life...so am I crazy to take on a blog as well? Maybe (probably)-but what a great way to periodically post some thoughts on the fitness industry, health matters, and the direction our kids and families are taking with thier health.
The year 2013 closed with considerable public focus on extreme fitness activities. Obstacle courses, fitness races and almost cultlike fitness activities have garnered ever increasing public interest and fitness industry market share. However, at the same time, these events have heightened public and media focus on fitness activity injuries and deaths as well as the qualifications of fitness professionals such as personal trainers.
