In Part 1 of this series I discussed where we went wrong with carbohydrates and in Part 2 I discussed where we went wrong with proteins. It only makes sense that Part 3 would consist of fats, but it’s not.Do you have any idea of what it will discuss then? I could go on and on about where we went wrong, but I’m trying to stay on track with macronutrients.
There are a lot of types of drinks to choose from on the market today. Some of them are high in calories and sugar like Frappacinos. Some believe that the sports drink is a great alternative even though most people that workout on a regular basis do not need the amount of sodium and sugar that those drinks provide. Then there is the ever popular diet soda/pop that people will consume thinking that they are saving themselves calories, when they are really doing more harm then good. At the end of the day, the best liquid you could put in your body is water.
Water is an essential part of your diet! We can survive weeks without food, but only a few days without water. The body has no way of storing water, so it needs to be constantly replenished from lost through sweat and urination. A minimum of 8 glasses of water daily is suggested and more when it is hot or an individual is engaged in sports or exercise. If you are already thirsty, chances are you may already be dehydrated.
I’m trying something new. Some of my clients asked for a challenge, so I created Healthy Habits Challenges for the rest of this year. The first challenge starts this month. We’re doing a 21-day AB Challenge and a Water Challenge. Why not a 30 day challenge? Because it takes 21 days to create a habit and most people fall off after 2 weeks, so let’s see if 3 weeks works.I’ve posted the 21-Day AB Challenge here and on my other social media sites:

I haven't posted on the blog for a while. I just haven't been feeling well. I've been tired. I've had stomach pain. Just not feeling good. I haven't felt well for a while now. Everything came to a head a couple weeks ago when I went into the hospital with severe pain. It turns out that is was a huge kidney stone. Kidney stones always seemed to be such a small thing to me. The reality is, kidney stones are a BIG DEAL. It's more than just the extreme pain. A kidney stone can damage your kidney and can cause infection. One of the best ways to avoid kidney stones is to drink water.
If you are trying to lose weight, then I am sure you are focussing on what you are eating on a regular basis, measuring each gram of cereal, monotoring your carbohydrate intake, etc., which is great, however, how many of you are actually paying attention to what you are drinking? Here are some facts about the different things we drink on a regular basis: A 12oz can of soda has 39 grams of sugar and 140 calories or 9 3/4 teaspoons of sugar! A 8 oz redbull has 27 grams of sugar and 108 calories or 6 3/4 teaspoons of sugar!
