I tell people all the time that fitness is not a destination....it's a way of life....it's all about the journey....blah...blah...blah! Well, just so you know that ALL of us are in this together, I have a short (and hopefully, "enlightening") story to share:

There are always a lot of posts on social media that list the benefits of yoga. As always some research is well designed, and some less so, but there is so much research being done these days on yoga and related topics that one can see pretty clear evidence of a number of benefits of the practice. In some cases we can also see the factors within the practice that lead to those benefits.

Listening to a podcast today from Optimize with Brian Johnson about the power of positive thinking, I was reminded of a simple practice that can change your outlook quickly and easily.  By asking the simple question; what went well today, I am training my brain to look for the good even in the small things that happen throughout the day.  Thinking this way immediately made me feel happier.  The universe gave me a subtle reminder to take a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, something I need to do more often.  So, my list of what went well today...I

The Healthy Life
We've all seen the advertisements. Workouts focusing on how many calories you "burn" within a given time frame. After all, it's what most of us want to know right? Day 5 of our Personal Best 30 Day Challenge and my attempt at eventual transformation has proven more difficult than anticipated.  ARGG!  I am the leader!  I’m the one that has thrown down the gauntlet!    Am I going to let this challenge make minced meat out of me? I have stayed true to my 30 minutes of evening meditation however; my day game is way off.  Ordinarily, I wouldn’t beat myself up about this however; my goal is to augment my spiritual acuity, not redistribute it.

We've all been there before: dieting and exercising hard for months, dropping 98% of that excess visceral fat, but then... WE GET STUCK?! Impossible! You've been getting 6-8 hours of sleep more often than not, have eaten well a vast majority of the time and continue pushing your threshold in the gym. What gives? Aren't those three things the keys to avoiding a plateau and continual success? The answer: Yes and No.

Wellness Feels Good!
Bootcamp, kettlebells, pilates, yoga, weight training. There are so many ways to exercise, it’s hard to know how to get started or which one will lead to success with your wellness goals. But last week, I read a story about the oldest man alive, a Bolivian peasant, Carmelo Flores Laura. When asked what his secret to longevity was, he replied, “I walk a lot, that’s all.”
