OK...so, the long holiday weekend is over! Time to get back to the grind! Many clients have asked me about detoxing/cleansing, etc. after several days (or weeks!) of binging. While I don't advocate for detox diets or special cleansing drinks, I do have a few tips that I hope will help:

Nutrition and Fitness Coach
Being in the fitness industry for more than 10 years has given me so much joy.  I am thrilled when I can make a difference in someone's life by helping them to look and feel better in theri body.  I know that nutrition plays a huge role in feeling better, so I decided to add nurtition coaching to my repertoire.  I am proud to say that I have completed the Precision Nutrition Coaching Level 1 certification and I am ready to add this area to my practice.  I love Precison Nutrition's approach.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to be compassionate when you help others on their path to wellness, health and fitness. People come to you, oftentimes as a “last resort”, after years of struggling with either some medical problems or weight issues or nutritional habits. It is extremely hard for them to book that first date with the fitness professional, come to the meeting, sit down, open up right away and pour out all the worries, problems and stress, as they see the person for the first time in their life.

You know when you’re on the airplane and it’s getting ready to take off and the flight attendant goes through the whole safety procedures of what to do in an emergency? They show you where all the exits are, how to put on a life vest, and then they tell you about the oxygen mask. You know that part where they say there might be a change in cabin pressure and this little yellow mask will fall from the overhead ceiling? “Please put on your oxygen mask before assisting others.” Why is that? Are they saying that you’re more important than your child?

I know you’ve seen the memes that list some unhealthy food and its equivalent in terms of an exercise. And, I hear the questions all the time….how many calories will I burn doing this? How long do I have to work out to burn the calories of the hamburger I ate last night………in short, my answer is……..who cares? It really doesn’t matter!

I have been getting a lot of questions about diet/nutrition and have been discussing my own diet/nutrition recently, so I decided to continue my theme of CHANGE and write a blog keeping the subject of nutrition in mind.

Ariadne Greenberg/ Transformations in yoga
There is always a pull in yoga between adapting practices to the needs of the individual within our current world, and honoring and understanding its often complex traditional principles and practices. I think I've made the point before that I think it is like a chef cooking a traditional dish from a culture, with the original ingredients and methods, and another chef creating a dish that represents a fusion of cultures, or a modern take within a culture of a dish that has been around in different forms for a very long time.
