Here it is well over the turn of the century and I find myself in the annoying position to have to address such a topic. Is it me or have people become way to over zealous in the gym? Has gym etiquette evaporated into the air ducts behind the gym walls? I know the blood and testosterone is flowing and heart rates are up but is it really necessary to throw weights, be rude or inconsiderate? Who are these people? You'd think they were training for the Olympics, with all the grunting and groaning going on. Yeah that would be the guy with the enormously over developed upper torso and skinny legs, nursing the squat rack or the prissy miss thing with her thighs pressed against the pads of the abductor machine, yes some gyms still have these. Where was I again? Oh! I know. I was talking about the prissy miss thing siting in the"thy machine" with the weight set at 10 lbs, doing absolutely nothing besides staring at her self in the mirror.
Have we become that self involved and vain? Are we that far removed from social graces? Does anyone wipe off the machine anymore? Is this of concern to anyone but me? I can't tell you how many times I've witnessed members leave their weights on the machine and walk away. How rude! Would you be shocked if I told you about the innumerable verbal shouting matches and quarrels I've been subjected to? Is this what people pay gym membership fees for? If that's the case, they might as well stay home on the coach watching the WWF. Wow! Now that I've gotten that of my chest, I think ill go work out.
