But I just don’t want to!!
And other defeating things we say to ourselves
Hi everyone, in this post we are going to take a look at how a change in mindset can motivate you to reach goals. Have you ever said any of these phrases to yourself??
But what do I get in return?
For every bad habit you must have a good habit to replace it with. This will boost your motivation because you won't feel as though you lost something. Try to think on the positive side about what you will gain.
Maybe this exercise will help: Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. List on one side all the bad habits that you want to change and on the other side of the line write one good positive thing you will replace it with.
I'll go first and share with you my "this for that" list. Wanna create more accountability? Share yours with me :)
Egg Whites - with a little seasoning it’s hard to tell the difference
Homemade Pizza on Flat out Bread (See recipe below)
Hot Wings with Blue Cheese Dressing
Rotisserie or backed chicken legs with Fat Free Blue Cheese Dressing and carrots/celery or salad
Must See TV every night
Hanging with my friends at the gym discussing the scandals of real life lol...Burning calories with friends is easier than going at it alone.
Sleeping in EVERY Saturday as if it would kill me to get out of bed
Meeting with my friends at am 5ks and Zumba events around the city! It isn't every week and it’s a ton of fun :)
Recoup from the work day sprawled out on the couch watching TV
Rejuvenate with an old fashion dance party. Crank up Pandora, get in your pajamas and dance until you can't remember the to do list waiting for your at the office
Who will know if I don't do it?
We can get away pretty easily with not sticking to our resolutions when there isn't anyone to be accountable to. I hear all the time that people should work out with friends and family to make the habit stick. I didn't really believe it until a few weeks ago when I wanted to have a girl’s night out on the day my friends and I had set aside to workout. Really, just one week off wouldn't be that bad right? Sure, but what about when one week turns into two, three, 52 and its 2015?? Lucky enough for me one of my friends said she wasn't available...she would be working out!! Not what I wanted to hear. We gotta slack off together right ;). Guess which one of us changed her plans? I was completely convicted faced with her sticking to the plan. So the lesson is this - get a workout buddy. It doesn't have to be a friend but that is always a plus.
One thing I love about my classes is the community we have with each other. Take the opportunity before class to get to know someone a little more and exchange contact information. Even a short checking in text can really motivate you to stick to the plan. We are all in this together :)
Another week, another month and I'm still the same - why bother?
Every step, every new healthy habit you create is causing some sort of positive change in your life. Maybe instead of looking for a change on the scale we should look for a change in how we feel. When I eat healthy balanced meals and workout I don't just lose weight - I AM BETTER! I have more patience, peace and the best outlook for everyday obstacles. When I do the opposite, the day drags and everything is just harder. So let’s reflect more on how our good habits are creating better days/lives for us. That is something you can see right now. Do you want to feel your best?
Recipes for the Real World
I'll like tomatoes if it’s the last thing I do!!
Outside of a nice burger I really can't stand eating tomatoes. It’s such a wonderful veggie though so I am determined to like them. Recently I started eating them covered in fat free balsamic dressing -it’s refreshing and pretty good.
Is there a food that you would love to just like...even a little bit? Share them in the comments. I bet someone else has just the right recipe to change your mind :)
Flatout Bread Pizza
It’s really simple and there are many others on http://www.flatoutbread.com/category/recipes/
Your favorite veggies and lean meats
Low Fat Mozzarella Cheese
Put some tomato sauce on your flat out bread, and then add your veggies and lean meats - top with cheese
Set your oven on broil and put the pizza in
Cook until the cheese is completely melted (you really gotta watch the pizza to be sure you don't burn it)
Cut and serve :) It shouldn't take but a few minutes to cook on broil.
Hope you enjoyed the post. What are some other goal defeating things we say to ourselves??
