As of late I have been battling a traumatic thumb injury (I had my left thumb crushed between the hinges of a bathroom door in a cabin on a cruise ship). Initially, the misfortune didn't hurt at all; however, once the next day rolled around it became quite an annoyance with the swelling, pressure, and pain. It's almost been two weeks now and I'm still battling the injury and I've finally gotten the courage to incorporate some resistance training back into my daily habits.
