Today I ran another 5K for the wonderful charity Team FOX for Parkinson's research. Now, I am pretty proud of myself doing a PR of 31:07, getting closer to my goal of under 30. But that is nothing compared to what I saw at this event. A gentleman with full blown parkinsons in his wheel chair doing the 5K, the race had some pretty significant hills but he did not give up. He finished the whole race under his own strength.

Mijn Triple Challenge zit erop! Het was een leuk evenement en Dirk en ik zijn het er beide over eens dat we - als het past - volgend jaar weer mee willen doen. Cornwall is schitterend, zeker als je mooi weer hebt, en dat hadden we gelukkig.
Today I decided to experiment and make up my own version of a healthy Mac N' Cheese. It was a success so I'll share it and hope you enjoy it as well! When I cook I don't always measure... so I did not measure anything--> I poured, dashed and threw in handfuls of ingredients. This healthy Mac N' Cheese gets it's creamy cheese like texture by using mashed up Butternut Squash. Therefore making this dish more nutrient dense while decreasing calories and fat content! Well, after months of studying, I am now a newly minted ‘Corrective Exercise Specialist’. I signed up for this certification in July thinking that it would be easier than the fitness Nutrition Specialist certification that is also issued by NASM and which I had passed just weeks before. BOY, WAS I WRONG!
A good workout will contain a variety of different types of exercises. It is important to stretch before and after each workout. After you stretch you should get your heart rate up with some cardio. Some folks then move to lift weights, but remember to keep your heart rate up. You can’t rest too long between sets. It is always a good idea to finish off with cardio after lifting weights. This will help blood flow to the muscles you just worked. Just remember whatever workout you do, keep your heart rate up.
Almost all the soy grown in the United States is genetically modified to make it resistant to a certain type of pesticide. It results in farming efficiency and of course less healthy and inexpensive soy. Soy also has proteins that traditionally are a part of the human food supply. This has been linked to being the cause of infertility in future generations. Soy also contains natural anti-nutrients. Anti-nutrients compounds that interfere with nutrient absorption so be careful with your choice of food.
