As we approach this week, I look ahead at the Holiday and wonder what it's all about. Sure it's a time to be thankful, but it seems that that simple concept can get lost so easy in the hustle and bustle of shopping, cooking dinner and all the other things that go on at this time of year.
eat less red meat -ban bottled water (invest in a reusable water bottle) -snack substantially ( ditch the processed food- choose whole foods) -be an efficient shopper ( reuse bags and buy in bulk) -eat locally ( be a regulat at your local farmers market) -cook more and order less takeout -limit packaged, single serving beverages and snacks

So I had a booth at a women's health expo today. At the booth, as part of the display, I had several dumbbells set up. One thing that I noticed with some of the visitors is that they would walk around me as though I was the plague! Now, in my years of training, I have observed a lot of people, and can say that many of these people could benefit from a good strength routine. That said, I think that many women have had it ingrained in their heads that weights are for men only. Women....

There is an old saying, "that which does not kill us makes us strong!" While this is not 100% true, there lies a great deal of truth in it. For, we must go through things that are tough to sharpen us, much like a sword must be tempered with fire before it is strong. This is true in life as well as in the gym.

This week, I could tell the buzz with my clients was definitely the fact that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. With the excitement and anticipation of the holiday, for some comes the fear of losing control and over-eating. Keep in mind that it is not what we do in one day that affects our health and well-being so much as it is what we routinely do. Be mindful as you go about the holidays that there are always healthier food choices! But let's focus more on family and the real reason for the season... we have so many blessings and we are grateful for all of them!
