PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND GOALS
With 28 years in the fitness industry, I have experienced the joys and challenges of being a group fitness instructor, a personal trainer and fitness director. I am an extremely active mother of four and have enjoyed participating in fitness competitions, programs and activities including, cheerleading, coaching, community fitness benefits and boot camp trainings.
To my surprise, at the age of 41, I was diagnosed with DJD (degenerative joint disease) concentrating on my knees, hips and spine. Upon diagnosis, I decided that this was simply unacceptable!! I needed to prepare for the inevitable by obtaining all the information needed to both prolong my surgery and then, return to function quickly after the surgery.
In the following five years, I proceeded to do research, take workshops/courses and became an ACE certified Advanced Health and Fitness Specialist.
At the age of 46, I had a total hip replacement. When released from physical therapy, I continued to follow my self-designed pre and post rehabilitative programs both on land and in the water. In less than one year’s time, I was participating in most of my past activities. At my current age of 58, I have returned to many of the advanced functions to which I was so accustomed and enjoyed.
So many individuals are in similar situations with limited knowledge and resources. I continue to receive heart-felt satisfaction daily by helping my members and clients overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. Through both land and water personal training, I am lucky to be afforded the opportunity to make this difference in both their lives and mine!
