Growing up in Seattle during the 90’s, Kristina Ray was more into music and art than sports and fitness. She was hounded by athletic coaches throughout high school because of her height, and was generally turned off by the competitive nature of organized sports. She decided to move to Portland to go to college and received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Portland State University. After college, she moved to California and began going to the gym occasionally and riding her bike to work most days. She truly found a love for the freedom and exercise that bicycling gave her, but still wasn’t too keen on going to the gym. There was something intimidating and uncomfortable about walking into gym and trying to do a “good workout” when she really had no idea what that actually meant. Kristina moved back to Portland in 2011 and decided to again revisit the gym scene. She joined a wonderful gym whose trainers coached her, taught her about proper form, listened to her personal concerns, and totally squashed her negative association to gyms.
Thoroughly inspired by a new found love for fitness, Kristina decided to get certified through NASM's Personal Training program in 2012. Gaining the tools to share the encouragement and passion she received throughout her own fitness journey, she could see no better way to use it, than to pass it onto others. In 2013, she became a Certified Schwinn Cycling Coach, to fully embrace her love of cycling. For Kristina, one of the most satisfying aspects of being a trainer is watching clients find their own passion for fitness and just going for it! “Teaching clients how to be confident and to take pride in their fitness routine is truly one of the greatest things to be a part of. My personal goal is to provide my clients with the tools to achieve their fitness, weight, and wellness goals by creating an individualized and enjoyable exercise programs.”
