Bodybuilding with FDA Approved Steroids: What is the Right Way to Use Them?

BodybuildingSteroidsFitness
By Alesia Hsiao

Steroids are supplements that are mostly used to maintain or build body muscles. Whenever you join the gym your trainer might prefer you some steroids that would help you in building muscles. We often hear that steroids are not suitable for health or affect the physical & mental health severely. There are many reasons behind the side effects of steroids used for bodybuilding. Before we move towards the use of steroids, let’s discuss how drugs affect your health and what is the proper way of using steroids.

Anabolic Steroids Effects

People ask about the side effects of steroids but it's only the misuse of anabolic steroids can damage your health severely, i.e. kidney failure, liver damage & tumour, etc. Anabolic steroids are taken orally, injected or applied to the skin. People are always prescribed to make a limited amount of dose in a day or a week.

People use 10 to 100 time higher doses of steroids that affect the health negatively and cause significant problems in the body & brain. In addition, steroids powder are not hazardous to you until you stop following the prescription or when you start following the wrong prescription. You must take a minimal amount of steroid for your sports or athletic activities. Certain rules must be followed while using anabolic steroids to avoid the side effects

Use of Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids are being used by athletes and bodybuilders to enhance their performance, decrease fat & increase muscles fat. Building body & improving the physical performance with steroids are not bad for health at any cost until you take high doses of those steroids. There is another aspect of using these steroids that you need to use legal steroids that are approved by the FDA. There is some reason for banning illegal steroids and they must affect your physical and mental health.

There is no problem if you want to grow your body muscles or maintain your body by following the prescription and using the steroids according to the prescription. Steroids are best known for bodybuilding & higher performance in athletic activities. The problem occurs when the person becomes addicted to the steroids, and he/she start taking high doses of steroids.

Addiction to Steroids

Like other substances, anabolic steroids are also addictive. You might start wanting the same effect again or crave for the steroids or start feeling the symptoms of stop taking steroids. These are the symptoms of addiction, and it can cause more severe damage to your physical and mental health. A sudden halt in taking steroids might cause withdrawal symptoms to you such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, extreme tiredness, headaches and many others.

The question arises, how to come off anabolic steroids? When a doctor prescribes the steroids, then the doctor decreases the dose in the prescription. The same goes for the people who do not want to go to the doctor. A sudden stop in taking steroids might cause problems for your health. In this context, you must decrease the number of doses that you take daily and eventually you will be at the point where you will stop taking steroids.

Plaque Psoriasis - Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

skinSkin care Tipsskin care
By Alesia Hsiao

Psoriasis is a long-term inflammatory condition which mainly occurs because of problems in a persons' immune system.  There are various types of psoriasis; however; the most common is plaque psoriasis. It often involves patches on the skin, which have a well-defined edge and could appear almost anywhere on the body. Irrespective of this fact it mainly affects the scalp, knees, elbows, and lower back. The underlying cause of this disease is yet a mystery; however, certain factors which can act as a trigger to initiate the situation include obesity, stress, and smoking.

Symptoms

Plaque psoriasis can often get worse when a person is stressed.  Similar is the case when the skin of the person is injured or affected. Moreover, specific drugs or medications like beta-blockers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can also play a fatal role in triggering the effects. Lastly, keep in mind that, scratching the affected areas would make things worse, to the extent that it might cause bleeding or a visible thickening of the affected area.

Causes

Researchers have still not fully understood the mechanism of plaque psoriasis; however, there is a belief that an individual's genetics could play a central role.

Other causes of plaque psoriasis include past infections or even toxic exposure, although most of them are hypothetical.

Regardless of the trigger, we need to be aware of the fact plaque psoriasis efficiently accelerates the speed at which production of skin cells takes place. It could be a problem mainly because; the production of new skin cells is faster than the rate at which old ones are shedding. Together with this, the blood vessels beneath the skin may start to swell up as a response to the chronic inflammation. It often results in localized redness as well as swelling.

Diagnosis

The appearance of your skin mainly diagnoses plaque psoriasis; therefore, it might not require any special blood tests or diagnostic exams. However, for his/her ease, a doctor, and better treatment, a doctor might want to differentiate it from other types of psoriasis along with similar skin disorders. Some of them include:

  • Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma

  • Seborrheic eczema

  • Pityriasis rosea

  • Ringworm

  • Discoid eczema

Therefore, to be a hundred percent sure about the diagnosis figured, a skin biopsy or scraping might be performed for lab analysis.

Treatment

Other than making the person uncomfortable, plaque psoriasis can also develop a situation of distress in the mind of the patient. Sometimes it could even affect to a level that a person's confidence might shake and might not be able to feel a sense of well being. It is a good news, that the medicines for treating plaque psoriasis have advanced to a greater extent, with an ever-widening understanding related to immunology and autoimmunity.

Bottom of Form

Advanced treatment options include:

  • Topical corticosteroids these can be continuously used but not for more than eight weeks as it might cause skin thinning.

  • Phototherapy- this uses artificial ultraviolet light which helps in penetrating the skin along with reducing the growth of skin cells

  • Non-biologic drugs- Methotrexate and Cyclosporin are certain drugs which can help you suppress your immune system completely

  • New biologic drugs- Enbrel, Humira, Remicade, Stelara, and Taltz can also help in suppressing specific parts of a person's immune system

  • Otezla is a medicine to treat the disease.

If we talk about it at a personal level, the best way to deal with it is coping

Plaque psoriasis can be frustrating. However, a smart and professional doctor would initially try to  cope up with the disease without medications, initially

The chief problem is the stress and to end it, you need to find customized ways, for yourself, which could help you alleviate stress. For some, it could be yoga for others; it could be listening to music. However, don't decide it yourself, as sometimes it could even cause symptoms of anxiety or depression.

A healthy diet and exercise can do great wonders in causing relief to inflammatory stress of obesity. This in turn plays an important role in improving a person's overall mood, strength, and appearance.

Plaque psoriasis could also often make a person suffer from isolation and self-consciousness. But keep in mind, this isn't you, millions of people out there are facing the same thing. However, to break it all, try reaching out to others, be open and accepting about it.

Lastly, remember you might require a change in your treatment process, over time. Alongside, don't stop using the prescribed medicine as that could cause other illness.

Causes

There are different causes of polydactyly. It may be genetic or due to certain mutation inside the womb. Polydactyly also has some associated symptoms with it.

Family polydactyly

In many cases, polydactyly runs through the family. That means if a family member has one or two extra fingers or toes then another family member from the next generation may have it. It can also become evident after two or three generations. This type of polydactyly is called family polydactyly. It usually is isolated in nature. That means other associated symptoms are not observed.

Genetic polydactyly

Extra fingers or toes may be due to genetic matters. Often the gene of polydactyly is passed down in generations till one gets it.

Mutation

Often a sudden genetic mutation in genes may cause a baby born with extra finger. This is not inherited. Certain factors may trigger mutation when the baby is inside the womb.

Small finger or small toe duplication is often inherited and it is common in African and American population. Thumb duplication often happens in only one hand due to isolation.

Other conditions associated with polydactyly-

  • Syndactyly or webbed hands or feet

  • Fully grown and functional fingers made with bones, joints, and tissues.

Types of polydactyly

  • Thumb duplication or Radial or pretrial polydactyly

This is one of the common polydactylies. A fully or partial functional finger is present outside the thumb. The position is called a radial position.

  • Tibial polydactyly

It is quite common also. An extra big toe is present outside the original toe. In can happen in one or both feet

  • Ulnar or postaxial polydactyly

In the earlier days only men used to face hair loss but in today’s era even women have started undergoing extensive hair loss due to various factors like stress, hereditary problem, and use of fake shampoo. This has given rise to an extensively new treatment to fight this problem called hair transplant. India has been a growing market for hair transplant service in the recent times. In India especially in a state like Chennai, more and more surgeons are opening their clinics in Chennai for providing hair transplant service.

At clinicspots, a leading medical Q/A platform would answer all you queries related to hair transplant in Chennai. Clinicspots also helps in booking appointment with the best hair transplant surgeon in Chennai, India.

Hair transplant in Chennai has attracted many people even outside India to travel to Chennai to undergo hair transplant. The main factor which attracts these people is the hair transplant cost in Chennai. Cost has been a variable factor when it comes to undergoing hair transplant treatment in Chennai.

Let me first introduce what exactly hair transplant is!

Hair transplant is the primary solution to fight baldness. Some years back, hair transplant used to be a bit expensive and was only affordable for only people who are in the upper class or those who are celebrities. Hair transplant is a surgical procedure used to fight baldness. Hair transplant in Chennai is performed by experienced and skilled professional hair transplant surgeon.

There are different types of hair transplant which is offered in Chennai.

Some of the different types of hair transplant techniques are

  1. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant)

  2. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

  3. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

  4. Robotic Hair Transplant

  5. DHI (Direct Hair Transplant)

The above hair transplant methods can be chosen depending upon at which level of baldness is the patient suffering from? Also the method mainly depends on how much is the patient ready to spend on the treatment.

Let me brief you one by one as to what exactly these surgeries are all about and how it helps in regrowth of hair.

  1. FUT(Follicular Unit Transplant)

This surgery is an old and traditional form of hair transplant surgery. This surgery was extensively used by most hair transplant surgeons when the technique was not much advanced. In this traditional hair transplant technique, a strip of hair follicles is extracted from the back of the scalp and implanted into the area of baldness where the patient is suffering. This is a painful procedure as compared to other types of hair transplant, as the scar which is visible after the strip of hair is removed is permanent in nature.

  1. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

This is the most preferred type of hair transplant surgery which is suggested by most of the hair transplant doctors to fight baldness. In this treatment method, the hair grafts from the back of the scalp which is permanent in nature is extracted and implanted to the area where the patient is suffering from baldness.

  1. Robotic Hair Transplant

In this hair transplant technique, the transplant procedure is carried out with the help of a robotic machine. This is an advanced form of FUE hair transplant. In this technique, the arms of the robot are used to assist the surgeon to perform the procedure. It is a time consuming procedure as compared to other methods.

  1. DHI(Direct Hair Implant)

One of the expensive but which gives out positive result is called as DHI. The drawback of this technique is that it cannot be performed by any hair transplant doctor. This type of technique can only be performed by very skilled and doctor who are certified under the DHI medical group of doctors. A DHI implanter is used in order to perform the surgery wherein the hair grafts are extracted and at the same time implanted back into the scalp.

  1. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

Platelet Rich Plasma is a surgical technique which is used when the patient is suffering from baldness which is in patches. In this hair transplant method, the patient’s own blood is removed in a tube. The plasma is separated from the blood and the platelet rich plasma is injected back where there are patches of baldness.

The above hair transplant techniques can be selected based on which baldness level you are suffering from because each baldness level has the best suited technique of hair transplant. Also it depends on how much cost you are ready to give to undergo hair transplant in Chennai.

Why you should choose Chennai for hair transplant?
